iFive made some fans with its iPad Mini Clone, the iFive Mini 3 with retina. Its combination of an impressive screen, low price, decent specs and stylish design made it a good buy for someone looking for a cheaper alternative to Apple’s offerings.
While iFive has already entered the 10 inch tablet game with the iFive X3, they appear to be jumping back down in size, preparing to release another, this time octa-core, 7.9 inch Android tablet.
Gizchina News of the week
Rumors have popped up on Chinese technology sites. The new tablet’s resolution is pulling back a little, this time using a slightly cheaper but still impressive 1920 x 1200 Full HD screen. It has 16GB of on board storage and its octa-core CPU, the MTK6592, is clocked at 1.7Ghz. The amount of RAM in the device is still unknown but we do know the device’s AnTuTu score, sitting at a respectable 27,859. For comparison, the Google Nexus 7 (2013) scores around 20,000 on the AnTuTu benchmark. The Mini 3 Retina scored around 19,500, although it had to run the higher resolution screen which certainly cut into its score.
There is no date or price associated with the new tablet yet. “Five elements” was mentioned in the article, suggesting that the tablet would be a part of iFive’s Five Elements X line of tablets, but I would wait until someone with a better understanding of Chinese than I reads the source and confirms or elaborates.
