Oppo made a big deal over the launch of the Mediatek powered Oppo R1, for the updated Oppo R1S though the phone will receive a Qualcomm chipset.
The Oppo R1 became an instant success in China thanks to the all Gorilla glass design and top quality rear Sony sensor with large aperture for class leading low-light photo quality. Recently the R1 showed up at the FCC boasting 4G LTE, something which the Mediatek chip isn’t able to support. More leaks in China though show the LTE R1, or Oppo R1S, will go on sale here also and will receive a Qualcomm MSM8226 SoC running at 1.6Ghz.
