One reason why the OnePlus One is getting the media footage is the highly competitive pricing; only Google subsidized Nexus phones come close to the price to specifications ratio the OnePlus One aims to offer. Of course, we know nothing about the build quality as yet, but we’re talking about the on-paper specifications anyway.
We’ve extensively discussed the phone here on GizChina, perhaps more than any other unreleased device ever. Again, it’s because of the rather unorthodox marketing strategy that the startup is employing, something we see as quite extreme. In the sense, you are either going to be a hard-core follower of this strategy, or you won’t ever bother about it. So far, the majority comprises of the former, we believe.
Although the company might have lost a few fans with the announcement of the invite system, it would hope to buy them back with the affordable price tag the device is expected to carry. Since you bother to read this, we believe you are aware of the fact that ‘the One will be available for under $400’. Under $400, alright, cool. But how much? $399? $379?
Gizchina News of the week
Thankfully we have managed to get our hands on a leaked picture which suggests the device will be priced much closer to the $350 mark than $400; being a little more specific, the phone should be yours for $353 for the 16GB variant, and $417 for the 64GB one.
What you should have in mind, though, is that these are numbers translated from pricing in China that the leaked picture indicates. Since other markets will involve expenses such as shipping and handling, customs, etc., pricing might well be a little over what you see here.
Thankfully, with just under 5 days to go before launch, we don’t have to wait much before we get hold of official numbers.
Wow….what pricing ..as they say in India..Dhoom machaye ga!! This phone at this price will create a storm..
Don’t say that, I purchased a like new Galaxy Note 3 for 220 bucks from Craigslist. The only issue with the device is that it was stuck in a boot loop. I used odin and flashed the latest KitKat stock rom and it works fine. I used CF auto root to ROOT the device and installed a 3rd party wireless tethering app. I also installed “multi window manager” to allow me to add apps to the Multi window app drawer, ANDROID, gotta love it… =)
great deal alex but you brought your phone 2nd hand. not brand new without any issues. I’m pretty sure a used one plus one probably would go for less.
Also Alex you obviously know how to manage your device in terms of altering the software.
What about those who do not know what you know and wants a unit to function out of the box from the get go?
What would be the price of the note you purchased if it wasn’t stuck in a boot loop?
Which would then make the One+ a pretty good deal and familiar price point for anyone who wants to try a different brand than whats already out there
For my purpose though, it would have to be CDMA compatible. I use sprint (90% of the time Samsung) flashed to Boost Mobile. $35 per month (almost lol) unlimited everything, no contract. So there is a catch to all this… Of course CDMA is slowly being fazed out around the world. Until then, I will most likely keep things this way. Though I would like to use SIM one day in the near future. Taking advantage of the new 4G LTE phablets to come from China…
Not to mention the proven track record vs a brand few have heard of in the US. Don’t get me wrong though, the specs are impressive. …
I understand fully I’m in MD I am on H2O Wireless at $60 per month unlimited everything and a $20 international call credit included that I use to help keep in touch with my circle in my home country. I have a Zoo ZP998 running a sim from my home country and h2o’s sim and its perfect for me. Zero issues so far! My next upgrade would be when they do a 64bit 4G LTE version of exactly what I have now
