The race is on between JiaYu and iOcean as to who will launch their octacore phablet first, iOcean say it will be then and could be early as next week, JiaYu retaliate by releasing press renders!
If you are in the market for an octacore Mediatek phablet then this is either the best or the worst possible time for you (depending on how you think about it). On one hand you have an excellent selection to choose from with the iOcean G7 and OrientPhone Mega already on sale and the iOcean X8 and JiaYu G6 around the corner, while on the other hand you have to choose one out of 4 great looking devices!
Gizchina News of the week
To try and pull you over to their side, JiaYu have dusted off their rendering skills and put together these press images of their JiaYu G6. Each one highlights a different aspect of the phone ranging from the battery life, Antutu score to the overall dimensions (which are impressive for a 5.7-inch device!).
Is it just us or do these renders look way better than anything else JiaYu has put together? But more importantly will that translate into the JiaYu G6 being one of the better JiaYu devices ever to go on sale? What do you guy’s think?

that’s a damn sexy phone
So much choice, maybe flip a coin ?
They’ve clearly made a compact phone, the G have always been that,in fact,I was even doubting the dimensions were even true. But it was not supposed to be a phablet. A compact 5 incher in a 4.7inch dimensions would have been fine. Because this one is big,all those in future will be bigger. They just ruined the one reason people bought this line of phones. I don’t think the compactness (same size as most 5.5inch devices) will make up for sheer overall size to G4/5 buyers. Lets also not forget its a clone instead of an “inspired design” .Its a thin line JiaYu and you crossed it.
Can you give some examples i’m interested to know(with the exception of Oppo, Xiaomi etc) ?
ZTE Nubia,Geek and Grand lines,Huawei’s P,G and D lines,Lenovo’s K and S lines,ALCATEL’s Onetouch Line,All Xiaomi Mi Line, Most Coolpad phones, Most Newman phones,Most ThL phones,Most Amoi phones, NEO N line,Meizu MX Line, and Star/Kingleon OEM devices are unique designs sometimes, except they get overly rebadged, and it looks like brands are cloning each other.
In fact, the only companies that pride themselves in being clone makers are Goophone,Number 1, HDC, Thunderbird, and Zophone. They go out of their way to clone various popular brands at a lower cost.
Then there’s people like JiaYu,ZOPO,UMi and iOcean, whose designs aren’t exactly original, but they don’t 1-1 duplicate either. They just save cash on the design bit by “borrowing” from the big boys. I’m cool with that, except of late JiaYu in particular have been making no effort at all in differentiation.
Ah thanks for that very comprehensive response. If therefore you were to choose a manufacturer(s) which one(s) would you definitely choose (all things considered) ?
OPPO,Huawei and Lenovo. JiaYu,ThL,Newman if i’m looking to save cash.
Do you think much of Xiaomi ?
I must admit the Jiayu G6 in black does look tasty. Haven’t heard much from Newman in a long time, wonder what ever happened to the N3 for example ?
Xiaomi’s appeal is in their value proposition, otherwise no,because re-sellers found themselves a cash cow in that brand, for instance the Mi3 costs the same as Find 7a from re-sellers,really an easy choice to go with OPPO there.
