The long rumoured Xiaomi tablet might well be on its way, and in style. According to reports coming in from Taiwan, Xiaomi is preparing for launch of their first tablet, which will have a iPad mini style 7.85 inch display.
What’s impressive though, is the fact that the Xiaomi tablet will try to emulate the newer, more powerful iteration of the iPad mini, at least as far as display is concerned. The device is reported to feature the same ‘retina’ resolution as the iPad mini 2, i.e., 2048 x 1536 pixels, which churns out a pixel density of 324 pixels per inch.

What’s more, the Xiaomi tablet is also expected to be manufactured at one of Foxonn’s plants. Foxconn, as you might be aware, has been manufacturing devices for Xiaomi for quite some time now. Xiaomi’s current flagship, the Mi3, and other affordable Hogmi models are all made by Foxconn.
Xiaomi have been setting standards with regards to value proposition ever since the company’s inception in 2010. Something along the same lines is expected with the tablet as well; it’s being said that the device will cost just 1000 Yuan, or $160. Focus Taiwan suggests that we’ll be into the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year when we get to see the tablet, so there’s some waiting to do before you get your hands on one.
