Vivo has clearly been hyping its camera as part of the Vivo Xshot’s reveal. The invite sent out five days ago features a camera lens prominently, and there is of course the name, Xshot. It looks like it’s more than a marketing gimmick, given the rumored 24MP screen and f/1.8 aperture, Optimal Image stabilization, rumored 3D and 4K video. Basically, if the rumors are correct, the Xshot will arguably have the most powerful camera on the smart phone market (along with being the first phone to reach 40,000+ on AnTuTu).
But Vivo wants to take it a step further than that, it appears they are willing to alter the hardware of the device by adding detachable lenses.
Unlike the Oppo camera lens we brought you news of last week, these devices are tiny, and appear to attach to a phone’s body and rest in front of the phone’s camera. A small metal arm with a rubberized end holds one of two lenses, giving either a wide angle or fisheye effect. They were sent out to Chinese media outlets along with invites to the Xshot’s reveal.

This is how Vivo hypes its next smartphone:
As an added bonus, the wide angle lens can be taken apart to produce a super macro picture, allowing for really detailed shots.
It is unclear what kind of message Vivo is trying to send with these, if they will be packaged with the Xshot, sold separately, or if they were even meant for consumer consumption at all. It’s also unclear what phones the attachment will work with, it is attached to Vivo’s Xplay 3 phone in the pictures above, but there doesn’t seem to be any reason why the device would be unable to attach to a variety of phones.
The Xshot’s reveal, along with its rumor released, in case you are curious, is May 7th.
There seems to have been a slight resurgence in the camera phone war, what do you think about this attachment? Would you be interested if these attachments were for sale or came bundled with the Xshot?
You can see images on how the attachments performed in the source link.

Gah, same boring design. The camera looks amazing though, the detail on that macro shot is almost next to DSLR quality in terms of DOF. It certainly has that focus depth like a DSLR at least. Price is probably going to be nuts though.
What design?
Do you know something the rest of us don’t? We don’t know the design yet as it’s yet to be officially launched. The lenses look much smaller than anything we’ve seen to date from other manufacturers though.
The pic is that of xplay 3s and not xshot.
