Andi gives his list of top Android phones available unlocked and internationally priced between $100 – $150.
Before I get on with the list I want to make you all aware that these are phones and prices for international customers. If I were to write a list of $100 – $150 phones available in China there would be 1000’s to choose from, but this unfortunately will be of no use to most readers who live outside of the country. Where possible I have included a link to either the official site or a reseller, and as usual I would love to hear your thoughts on the list and welcome your own phone suggestions.
FAEA F2/F2S
Earlier this year FAEA had an amazing deal where you could pick up the FAEA F2 for just $99.99, that price is no longer available but the quad-core, 1080 phone can still be bought for $119.99 in regular version or $149.99 for the F2S variant with faster processor.
The FAEA F2/S were flagship phones last year so boast a FHD 1080 display, NFC, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel front and even have a team of developers working on custom ROMS for the phone.
JiaYu G4C
One of my personal favourite phones of 2013 makes a come back as the JiaYu G4C, boasting all the same great features but a newer, more affordable quad-core MT6582 processor.
Looking around on most stores the JiaYu G4C can be found for around $160, however there are discounts and bargains to be had and I managed to see listings of the G4C for as little as $149.99.
The G4C has a 4.7-inch 720p OGS display which is nice and compact and has left enough room in the budget to guid a sturdy, high quality device.
iNew i8000 (iNew V5)
Not a device I have tried (although I have reviewed the fantastic iNew V3), the iNew I8000 brings the advantages of the large screen to an affordable level. The same quad-core MT6582 chipset with 1GB RAM runs this large screen phone, plus there is room for dual SIM cards, an SD card.
Getting such a large display on a phone of this price has meant a lower 960 x 540 resolution though and the rear 5 mega-pixel camera is lower than the competition (although the front is a 5 mega-pixel too), but for those of you who want a large screen on a budget the i8000 could well be work a look.
No.1 S7 Lite
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S5, but at the price of a budget Chinese phone. The No.1 S7 lite shares it’s design with the octacore version of the phone but has a quad-core MT6582 chipset in place with 1GB RAM. Internal memory is 8GB but can be added to with the use of an SD card plus there is a rear 13 mega-pixel camera and front 5 mega-pixel shooter.
The cost of the N1. S7 Lite is just $129.99, and with that budget means the 5.1-inch panel is a qHD model, but the rest of the spec is pretty good for the money.
Doogee Turbo DG2014
A little shopping around and you can easily find the Doogee Turbo DG2014 for just $140, but what makes the Doogee such an attractive buy? Well the phone is good-looking, comes in a range of bright colours and measures just 6.3mm thick.
The 5-inch is a 720p HD OGS model, the main camera is a 13 mega-pixel unit plus performance is nothing to be sniffed at either with a quad-core MT6582 chip at its heart and 1GB RAM on tap.
JiaYu G2F
So far on this list we have bargains from last year, stylish ultra thin phones and a large screen phablet, but what if build quality and price are the most important aspects to a phone’s spec for you? Well the JiaYu G2F isn’t the most exciting phone on this list but at just $99.99 it does offer a 4.3-inch Gorilla Glass display, steel chassis, and quad-core processor.
Compared to the F1, the G2F also has more RAM (1GB), a built-in Wolfson audio chip for better performance, an 8 mega-pixel main camera, 2200mAh battery and OTG!
Lenovo A850+
Ok so the Lenovo A850+ is actually a little more expensive, but I found this phone for just $159.99 with very little effort and prices are coming down all the time. So what does the extra $10 over our budget afford us? Well a big name brand phone, and a powerful octacore MT6592 processor are two of the main benefits of the A850+. A generous 5.5-inch display, 1GB RAM and dual-SIM support are included too, but the extra power will mean you will have to live with a 5 mega-pixel main camera.
A2000
Another slender device, the A2000 has a 5-inch 720 x 1280 HD display, quad-core MT6582 processor, 1GB RAM plus all the other usual smartphone features we have come to expect from our phones. A notification LED means you won’t miss a message, 8 mega-pixel camera on the rear for catching the action and OTG for added functions.
Pricing is just $149.99 and according to the list details the phone ships with 1 x 2200mAh battery, 1 x 2800mAh battery, a flip cover with notification window, charger and user manual.
Elephone P9C
The Elephone P9c boasts a large 5-inch OGS display powered by a 1.3Ghz quad-core MT6582 processor and 1GB RAM. The body of the Elephone P7 comes in either white or a black carbon effect with red highlights for a great individual look. Other features include OTG, an 8 mega-pixel camera and Elephone tell us that we should expect Android 4.4 Kitkat very soon. Pricing is good to at just $138.
Lenovo Vibe X
Lenovo make it in to the list for a second time this time with the metal backed Lenovo Vibe X phone. The Vibe X is slightly cheaper than it’s octacore bother at just $144.90, but offers a metal build and more compact 4.7-inch IPS display.
Processing comes from the quad-core Mediatek MT6582 SoC which handles dual SIM, 3G and GPS etc and there is 1GB RAM and 8GB of built-in memory for apps and video.
Top 10 Android phones from $100 – $150
As you can see from this list, there is a huge selection of phones available once we reach over $100, and a great variety to choose from.
If you have more of a budget and want something a little more powerful, or with higher resolution to the models listed here you should keep posted for our up coming top 10 list of phones.
Much better..useable list..txx Andi..
Nice list.
G2F no WCDMA variant to be found at resellers yet.
The V5 also not widely available.
Clones belong to a separate list , in my opinion.
G4c can be found as low as 145$ .
Would add the DG350 for 110$. And the upcoming DG800 coming in May with Android 4.4 for 120$
Waiting for a sub100 list .
