Phone maker Voto, the factory behind the manufacturer of the UMi X2, have revealed the Voto X6 a premium smartphone with octacore Mediatek processor.
It has been a growing trend for Chinese companies to up quality and design, but the latest shift to create premium products based on Mediatek processors with flagship pricing is one that escapes me.
The Voto X6 is the first Voto phone to retail for almost 3000 Yuan, making use of new manufacturing techniques and high-end materials such as Gorilla Glass for the screen, and a magnesium alloy chassis. It even sports a Note 3 style leather finish (at this price we hope it is real).
Gizchina News of the week
Although a high price for a MTK phone, the X6 is cheaper than the OOne O1 announced yesterday, and has a better level of specification too. The display on the X6 is a 5.5-inch LTPS unit with FHD 1920 x 1080 resolution, there is a front 8 mega-pixel camera and the rear is a 13 mega-pixel sensor with f2.0 aperture. The Mediatek chip powering the X6 is an octacore MT6592 running at 1.7Ghzh and there is 2GB RAM, 32GB memory.
For the same price customers in China could buy the Oppo Find 7a, a Xiaomi Mi3 with 64GB memory and even the new OPO. Is there really a market for premium priced Mediatek phones?
These people like Oone Voto et. al. Must understand that mediatek powered phones just do not fetch high prices as in public mind they are not percieved premium.. and to demand ridiculous price for these is counter productive..
Another naive manufacturer doomed to fail in this cut-throat competition and the established ones are laughing all the way to the banks!!
