Rumors swirled earlier this year that Lenovo would be buying Sony’s VAIO division, nothing of substance seemed to come from them and the division was eventually purchased by a Japanese venture capitalist firm. That was okay with Lenovo, they still have IBM’s laptop division, after all and they are putting out some interesting laptops of their own.
Yesterday, Lenovo announced their latest laptop, the Lenovo m30. The m30 has 4GB of RAM, 500GB of internal storage and 8GB of instant access solid state hard drive, the Intel Core i3 CPU, and a 13-inch 1366 x 768 display.
Nothing that is going to blow you away, but it does appear to be a decently spec’d PC with a starting price of €500 (and may launch in the United States at the significantly cheaper price of $500). It also boasts one USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports. Its battery provides up to five hours of continual use with WiFi turned on. Significantly, it only weighs 1.8 kgs (3.9 lbs).

You might not be running Crysis 3 with top specs on it anytime soon, but it isn’t designed for things like that. Labeled as an “Affordable Business Laptop” the m30 is trying to hit that sweet spot of style, substance and affordability.
It also ships with Windows 8.1, if that is a feature or a fault depends on your feelings of the OS.
Do you think Lenovo’s new Laptop will make any headway?
