Just a few weeks ago ZTE announced their super low-cost 4G LTE equipped smartphone, aka the ZTE Redbull. The phone has been on sale in China for a few weeks now meaning benchmarks are hitting the web.
The ZTE Redbull, aka the ZTE V5 U9180, is an affordable 5-inch smartphone designed to be used on TDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA and GSM networks (so check before ordering). To get LTE on the phone ZTE have had to opt for a 1.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon MSM8926 processor rather than the more potent, but currently unreleased, Mediatek MT6595 SoC. Despite the low clock speed and 1GB RAM however the V5 still manages a respectable benchmark of 17,305.
Gizchina News of the week
Qualcomm are currently enjoying the boost in interest from Chinese phone makers and have already been chosen by ZTE, Oppo and Vivo to power their mid-range 4G LTE phones in China. How, long will it be before we start seeing Mediatek MT6595 LTE phones?
It is a pity that now in China TD SCDMA versions are released in first with affordable prices. Then later come the WCDMA versions, and most of the time 200yuans more expensive. Not to mention the Honor 3X that cost around 1600 yuans for the WCDMA version and can be purchased for 990 yuans TD SCDMA only version!
I don’t think so, WCDMA versions are not exclusive to Laowai as China Unicom is using this frequency and not TD SCDMA. And prices are on well known websites or shops, so same for Chinese!
3G Network provider(unicom) is more expensive than TD-SCMA….so for sure, more Most of chinese have the latter SIM rather than unicom one.
Thats why even a big company like “xiaomi” first sold “Mi3 Tegra4 TD-SCMA”, then after nearly 3-4months,”mi3 snapdragon800 WCDMA” built and began its selling
China Mobile is also the biggest provider, I can understand that brands prefer to release TD SCDMA first, but is it also a reason for price difference?
Tegra 4 is probably cheaper than Snapdragon 800. Then I think China Mobile is subsidizing some of the TD-SCDMA phones.
