OnePlus have finally announced the criteria which would make potential buyers eligible to purchase the OnePlus One. As the company stated earlier, it will be the 64GB version that goes on sale initially.
The company mentioned in a forum announcement that a combination of three factors would make you eligible to receive an invite — your forum age (time since you joined), forum participation (posts, likes, et al), and lastly, your recent activity. How much of each would be considered is still a mystery, but this still makes things much clearer for OnePlus hopefuls.
OnePlus will host two competitions with invites up for stakes. If you ‘win’ an invite, you’ll be eligible to pay and purchase a OnePlus One 64GB within 24 hours of receiving the invite. However, if you do not use your invite in the stipulated amount of time, it will get passed on to the next person in the queue, according to the announcement.

With this invite, you’ll finally have the chance to buy the phone you’ve been waiting for: the One. We want to protect the rights of our users and avoid accidentally creating a second-hand invite market, as such you’ll have 24 hours to make good use of your invite. If you decide not to use it, we will pass it on for you to the next person in the queue.

The 64GB OnePlus One is priced $349 and comes with the same specs set as the 16GB — Snapdragon 801 SoC, 3GB RAM, 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p JDI display, and of course the 13 mega-pixel 4K capable rear camera among other features.
I still don’t understand what they’re trying to achieve with this bizarre practice. FO OPO.
