I find myself rooting for the Vivo Xshot. I’m not sure why, perhaps because it didn’t get the attention heaped on other recent releases, but I like its style, I like its camera, I like its AnTuTu score and I like its specs. I’m not sure if I am willing to drop $600 to import one, but some part of me has lost its impartial journalistic integrity and is actively rooting for the device to do well. That being said, I don’t do white. I’m a messy, unorganized guy who doesn’t always take the best care of his expensive devices. The last thing I need is a paint job that highlights every smudge that gets on it. So when I saw the images of the “new” Vivo Xshot, I was immediately attracted to its darker color.
Gizchina News of the week
Currently, the Vivo Xshot is only available in white, however, a Vivo executive has posted images of the device sporting a new black color with a silver trim. Otherwise, the phone appears to be the same device as the original Xshot, only now you won’t have to wash your hands every time you want to make a phone call.
The new paint job does come with a name, unfortunately there seems to be some issue with Google’s translation. According to that translation, Vivo is calling this version of the Xshot “Sky Blue.” It seems unlikely that is the correct translation, given that the device appears to be no where close to sky blue.
What do you think of the Xshot’s new look?

Maybe the sky in china’s industrial town is so dark it shifted the perception of sky blue for the resident? 😛
Probable influenced by Huawei P7 with their blue-black patterned back.
Vivo would be the enthusiast’s front runner if they would support open source.
They keep building GREAT hardware, but with little or no options for alternate ROMs.
It’s a shame, since with cutting edge specs and their excellent design, all they would need to do is seed a few phones to develops.
For what it is worth: your sentiments are shared by many, just today I saw someone post to their weibo account saying they love Vivo’s hardware, but not its software.
perhaps we can think of a way to get ROM developers to “adopt” Vivo and add CM11 support. 😉
Hi Andi, do you have any information about the release date of the white and/or black version?
