Lava Mobile Quietly Announces Two Super Budget Phones

With very little fanfare, Indian phone manufacturer Lava Mobile has announced via their official website, two new super budget phones.

At least, we hope they will be super budget, no price has been announced, but the specs indicate that the Lava Iris 300 Style and the Lava 3G 412 will fall squarely in the budget camp.

According to 91mobile, the two phones were listed on Lava Mobile’s official site, but no price or release date was given. The Lava Iris 300 Style features a 3.5 inch, 320 x 480 screen, a dual-core 1Ghz CPU, 256MB of RAM, 512 MB of thankfully expandable storage, a 2 megapixel main camera and a 0.3megapixel front facing camera. It is powered by a 1,400mAh battery.

Meanwhile, the 3G 412 features the same camera, storage and CPU specs, but has a 4-inch 480 x 800 screen, 3G connectivity (specific bands weren’t mentioned) 512MB of RAM and a 1,500mAh battery.

Both phones feature WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity and ship with Android 4.2.

These looks to be extreme budget-friendly phones. While Lava Mobile hasn’t announced any pricing or availability details, these devices do appear to be an attempt to get smartphones into the hands of a poorer segment of the population.

We will have more as information becomes available.

256MB and 512MB is a joke, this is a great failure for a decent phone, 1GB is the real minimun today.
