If you are determined to carry as few devices as possible, you may want to considering combining your tablet and your phone.
While not many devices do it in the west as of yet, it is a popular design feature of many tablets in China and Cube, one of the few relatively well-known Chinese tablet makers, is implementing that feature here.
The Cube TALK8 has, unsurprisingly, an 8-inch 1280 x 800 screen. It also features a quad-core MediaTek MTK8382 1.3GHz CPU, 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. Camera-wise, the TALK8 does the bare minimum: a 0.3 megapixel front facer and a 5 megapixel main shooter. It is all powered by a 4,200mAh battery.
Gizchina News of the week
What makes it different from the others recently released tablets out there is its calling capability on China’s Unicom networks.
An 8+ inch phone might look silly. It might even be silly, but consolidating devices and giving us less to carry can only be seen as a good thing. At a reasonable ¥599 ($96, €71) price, it could be a good option for those on the hunt for a budget price phone or tablet.
No word on a release date, but we will keep you posted.
