Elephone P2000, octacore, Kitkat and fingerprint scanner

Direct and exclusive from the Elephone offices are these first official details of the Elephone P2000 smartphone.

These official specifications were sent over to us by Elephone earlier today and show the first image of a new octacore device with gold finish. The Elephone P2000 will be unique in the Elephone range by being the only phone with a fingerprint scanner on the rear. If you haven’t had the opportunity of using a phone with rear fingerprint scanner I would seriously recommend it as it adds much needed security while allowing you to quickly unlock the device while on the go.

Other features follow todays flagship trends with a 5.5-inch display (but with HD resolution), octacore 2.0Ghz processor, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel AF rear camera and Android 4.4 Kitkat.

A narrow 7.6mm body is another major feature of the phone but this doesn’t equal a small battery as the P2000 gets a usable 2650mAh unit, still not the largest but bigger than most slim devices.

An official launch date and price haven’t been announced as yet, but we have been promised more info soon.

I like the design and hardware but they should change the color. Black, white or silver should be fine.

I think the placement of the sensor is rather unlucky.

It looks like the “swipe-to-read”-type of sensor, in which case you will smear the camera-lens with your finger every time you try to use it.

    Hm…

Elephone seems to be producing quality devices, I have seen a review of the Elephone P8, and it looks very premium.
