Unboxing and hands on with the OnePlus One. This hands on video and photos are of the 16GB Chinese version of the OnePlus One, we will also be getting an International OnePlus One to test very soon too!
The OnePlus One is the phone that everyone is talking about, and although I don’t agree that it is the flagship killer that was promised, I do believe it is a the best phone for the money and extremely hard to beat.
GizChina are lucky enough to have received the Chinese version of the OnePlus One from reseller Lenteen.fr, we will also be receiving a 64GB International version of the OnePlus One in a few days too so we can put together a comparison of the two phones and give you our impressions when buying either device.
Let’s concentrate on what we have for now though, which is the Baby Skin white, 16GB OnePlus One.
OnePlus One Unboxing and hands on (Chinese Version)
As we stated in our article stating the differences between the Chinese and International OnePlus One, there are just a few differences between the two phones. To recap the Chinese version of the phone comes with ColorOS as standard and has different network support (so customers in North America will want to wait for the international model). Those of you in China, and Europe though should be able to use the Chinese version of the OnePlus One. As I am actually traveling through Europe now I will be able to test this.
Lenteen packed our OnePlus One nice and securely, but this meant that the outer box was covered in tape and I was unable to enjoy pulling the small OP tag open to reveal the innards, not a big deal, and the most important thing is the phone arrived from Hong-Kong with DHL with no issues (although I was asked to pay a small fee for VAT).
Opening the main packaging up reveals two boxes and a piece of foam to keep everything form moving around. The larger box contains the OnePlus One, USB data cable, SIM tray Pin and warranty book, while the other smaller box holds the Chinese charger.
Gizchina News of the week
There are no headphones included with the OnePlus One and it also appears tha MAXX Audio, the enhanced music system of the Oppo Find 7, is also missing from the settings.
The 5.5-inch screen means the body of the OnePlus One measures only 152.9 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm at a weight of 162g, that is only slightly narrower than the Vivo Xplay 3S with a 6-inch display (my current daily driver) but small enough to make it feel more compact in the hand when in comparison.
I won’t go in to too much detail as this is only a hands on and not a full review, but design features I especially like about the OnePlus One are the recessed bezel (looks good and is meant to help protect the display) and the Baby Skin cover which is made of a material using pistachio nuts. Like the International OPO, the Chinese version has a removable rear cover, but it is very tight and I have not shifted it yet.
If you are use to Oppo phones then you will feel right at home with the Chinese version of the OnePlus One as it comes with Color OS. The good news is that you get some of the Find 7’s great features including HD camera (called Picture Plus in the OPO), the Chinese system also has English, but the bad news is that OP have stripped Google services from the phone. Lenteen offered to install CM11S for us which has Google service and the Play Store, but we choose to get it stock so we can make a how to guide later in the week.

In the next few days we should also be receiving the International version of the OnePlus One with Sandstone rear cover, we also have the Vivo Xshot coming soon too so keep your eyes peeled for more unboxings, hands on, reviews and comparisons of these great phones.
Thanks again to Lenteen.fr who have provided this OnePlus One, and also thanks for their help with sending over the download links for CM11s which we will show you how to install soon.
