Vivo’s latest smartphone has landed on the GizChina doorstep. We go hands on with the camera-centric Vivo Xshot in this hands on video review and unboxing.
Over the past few months I have been using a Vivo Xplay 3S as my daily phone (after my Oppo Find 7a decided to misbehave) and have throughly enjoyed the device and its mighty 6-inch 2K display. I realise however that a huge screen isn’t for everyone, so when Vivo announced the Xshot I was eager to get my hands on one.
While watching the launch of the Vivo Xshot I believed it had what it takes to be THE flagship phone for 2014, the specs are right, the design is great and the 5.2-inch display might suit more mainstream customers than the 6-inch panel of the Xplay 3S.
If you are interested in buying the Vivo Xshot we received ours from TopResellerStore.it. The phone shipped from Italy with no tax and comes with a 24 month warranty!
Vivo Xshot Specifications
The Vivo Xshot comes in two flavours, the top of the range Ultimate with Snapdragon 801 8974AC 2.5Ghz processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory and the Elite version with Snapdragon 801 8974AA CPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. Both versions have space for a 128GB memory card and run Vivo’s Funtouch 1.2 OS based on Android 4.3. The phone I have received (and will likely be using from this day on) is the Ultimate version and performs as the specifications suggest it should!
Compared to the Vivo Xplay 3S the, Xshot is a tiny phone measuring in at 146.45 x 73.3 x 7.99mm, that’s actually slightly narrower than the 6-inch Xplay display and only slightly longer.
Inside the compact body is room for a single SIM card (the SD card lives in the same tray), 2600mAh battery, and the Maxim MAX97220 headphone amplifier and Cirrus CS4398 DAC mean you are going to get crystal clear audio. The phone supports GSM, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE. Interestingly there are differences between the Elite an Ultimate for network support see the table below:
Gizchina News of the week
On the exterior the the Xshot there is a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 display, front facing 8 mega-pixel camera with F2.4 aperture and LED flash, while the rear camera is a Sony sensor with F1.8 aperture and dual tone, dual LED flash. I’ve tested the phone in a number of situations and will say now you are going to find it hard to beat the performance or the Xshot’s cameras!

Some of these photos were taken in 8 mega-pixel setting by mistake. We will post more images in the full review coming next week.

Vivo Xshot review coming soon – The 2014 Flagship?
The Vivo Xshot came at a great time as it arrived on the same day as our OnePlus One. Well to be fair it came at a great time for us but not for the OnePlus One, which has largely remained sitting in its box while we have been busy playing with the new Xshot. Could the Vivo Xshot be the true 2014 flagship killer? Find out in the full Vivo Xshot review coming soon.
Thanks again to TopResellerStore.it for supplying us with the Vivo Xshot and for the extremely fast (less than 24 hours) delivery time.
