The iPhone might not be the smartphone of choice for us here at GizChina, but there’s no denying the fact that the iPhone is still a quality, usable device.
Apple’s complacency with the overall device size seems to have vanished; well, that’s what this 4.7-inch frame suggests. As you’re probably aware by now, the iPhone 6 is said to have a 5.5-inch cousin to go with the ‘smaller’ 4.7-inch version.
The alleged largest iPhone in history just got caught off guard, posing with a few of its existing brothers. However, its only the 4.7-inch frame that got leaked, minus the entire body around. But we feel it’s OK if the rest is kept under wraps since the frame suggests that the overall design will be pretty much identical to existing models, just on a larger scale.
Gizchina News of the week
Not only that, a new name for the 5.5-inch iPhone has also come up – iPhone Air. We think it certainly makes sense, since a 5.5-inch device will be much more closer to a phablet than a smartphone for an iPhone (or even otherwise) user.
It’s being said that folks in the US will be able to buy the device starting September 19th, with a price tag identical to that of the iPhone 5S during launch. On the other hand, the Chinese will have to wait a week extra before being able to get their hands on one. Pricing in China is reportedly set to 5,288 CNY ($850), with the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 to cost 5,998 CNY ($960), a $110 difference.
Lastly, both TD and FDD versions will be made available, for users of China Mobile and China Unicom.
