Open Thread: Which Chinese resellers do you recommend and which should be avoided?

trusted chinese resellers

Your time to speak up and have your say for or against Chinese resellers. Which Chinese phone resellers do you recommend and which should you avoid?

If you’re here and reading this then you will have the same attitude towards Chinese phones as we do; “They are awesome!”The only problem being where to buy them which Chinese resellers we can trust with our hard-earned cash.

This open thread is here for you guys to post which online resellers you would happily recommend to friends, family and fellow GizChina readers and which companies you suggest we keep as far away from as possible.

We want to keep things civil so keep your language clean and only post first hand facts. We don’t want comments from your friend’s, uncle’s , postman’s experience with an online store, we want your real and actual experiences.

Gizchina News of the week

When posting keep the following details in mind;

  • What was the company like when answering questions?
  • Did they keep you up to date with shipping and stock?
  • Were they honest about specifications?
  • Were they knowledgeable?
  • How was pricing?
  • Was your device shipped quickly?
  • Were you satisfied enough to use the company again?

You can tell us about any online or physical store you have dealt with as long as you were buying a Chinese device (phone, tablet, TV box etc). From Ebay resellers to giant drop shipping companies have your say about them now!

Disclaimer: We may be compensated by some of the companies whose products we talk about, but our articles and reviews are always our honest opinions. For more details, you can check out our editorial guidelines and learn about how we use affiliate links.

    Avoid at all cost SPEmall!
Bought at the start on 1/1/2014 Xiaomi Mi3 preorder.. Only on the 14/2/2014 they shipped it even that on mid January they said they have it on stock.. They told me for my waiting I will get free Xiaomi power bank but when I got the package it didn’t have it and they just told me if I would wait more 10 days I would get it and now I can’t get.. What a pure lie.. No problem.. Got the phone and after 3 days it got broke so for 180$ I bought screen for Xiaomi mi3 then after I got it I saw I couldnt replace it so I returned the phone with the screen to them and guess what? I paid 30$ for shipping+50$ for motherboard as they told me it got bad too. And until now the 15/7/2014 I still don’t have my phone and they keep ignore me and tell me they didn’t get it from the factory and every time I request them that they will send me a new phone they just ignore me.

          Try USA reseller — iProTablet

Saves a lot of Shipping time and hassle typical of Asian based resellers plus handles any warranty issues in the USA so will save you big if you ever have to deal with a warranty return.

They offer the latest models from Pipo, Ramos and other premium releases and they seem to be the only reseller that offers a 14 day return policy with no restock charges or return fees.

They respond quick to a few presale and also post sale questions I had.

Plus they offer a bonus Apps package with some quality paid Apps and also feature 500 MB of monthly 4G service in the US.

I also bought my Jiayu G4s from SPEmall and had a good experience buying from them.
They were very responsive when I emailed them, got tracking no. the day after I bought it and recieved the phone 4 days later. I can recommend them!

        I also bought a Jiayu G4 Advanced for my girfriend @ jiayu.de.
Really recommended for buyers in Germany!
They have a very friendly support (almost available 24/7 per phone or email) and a good tech. service. The warranty is valid for one year.

Bought my Mi 2s from beexz dot com It arrived quickly and the seller even directed me to the MIUI site for all updates etc He only sells Xiaomi products and service was great
Before I bought the 2S I went to Spemall to purchase a 2A and a LISA assured me that it was 3g 850/1900/2100; fortunately I found photos of the 2A packaging online and found out the frequencies were really 900 / 1900 /2100 mhz Bottom line Spemall will say anthing to get your money

I ordered a Jiayu G3T from FANTACY TECHNOLOGY via aliexpress. They fucked up my order, and I got no response. I got the G3S instead of the T version, but I received it in one piece without any damage. So okay, I got something $20 less worth, it’s still a good phone. But after 3-4 months the phone started getting stuck and reboots daily now. I’ll definitely order my next phone from something more standalone. Aliexpress promises a lot of service but I know better now.

Until recently I’d been using pandawill but they have gone rubbish lately, last 3 orders they haven’t shipped after 2 weeks and then told me no stock. I’ve been using banggood for a few months now, absolutely brilliant and super fast delivery, usually 7-10 days to the UK with no tax. Bought 2 tablets, phone Wi-Fi camera, mhl cable (faulty), sent a video of it nor working and they sent me a replacement no issues at all, and a few other bits and bobs. Great prices and lots of discount codes available, even my friends have started ordering from them, think that speaks volumes!!

Hence have suppressed my dreams constantly..fortunately for us in India the pressure of large market has brought likes of Xiaomi to India and will stick to their products at super competitive prices rather than get laid by totally unregulated Chinese sellers..

At autumn of 2013, I’ve ordered an iocean x7 elite from antelife which were told as in stock at chat. But they sent me an iocean x7 plus a month later without my confirmation. Even they cheated on disputing the price difference.
Also, after your payment, you can’t find some reply your mails or chat you online until you mention about dispute on paypal.
They are really untrustworthy and even i can easily say that they are cheaters.

I have a bad experience with Pandawill (although PayPal sorted it out). I bought a tablet at a certain price, but Pandawill later (after double confirmation of thr correct discounted price) charged me more. PayPal refunded me completely… but I do not like those tricks where you pay, you get it confirmed and then still get charged more (the confirmation after that one had indeed the higher price… previous confirmations on their website AND on PayPal’s website had the lower price).
I bought with AnteLife… They are slow for sending (after you order it takes them at least 1 or 2 weeks before they sent it out… so choosing DHL is a waste of your money). But I never had to pay for taks since they put a low amount on the package.
DX is quite reliable (but a bit more expensive). I regularly bought all sorts of things from them. Often with discount vouchers from their Calender. But last years calender had vouchers that were not interesting and I have not bought a thing this year with them (last year at least once per month). Now I tend to look on eBay for thinigs that DX sells… and find it usually cheaper on eBay.

    Banggood and Geekbuying are great!
ordered smartphones and tablets from them, good service- if the item is in stock then banggood ships it out in 24H, Geekbuying usually ships out in 2~5 days
my latest order was from banggood- I have ordered GALAZ A1 tablet and reviewed it 🙂

I have always had great luck with Antelife. I bought several phones from THL, Umi, I ocean and ZTE. Shipping was relatively fast to the US(home) and very fast to Thailand(work). Customer service was excellent. They even replaced a few phones no questions asked.

They have the worst customer service i have ever experienced. I am trying to get a refund from them at the moment as the lied about sending my item. Gave me fake tracking details and everything, then told me it was still in the warehouse and they would ship by china post instead of UPS like I paid for.

    Avoid Tinydeal.com!
I bought an 65 Usd item from tinydeal.com in march ’14. It was very bad quality and after 1 hour of use stopped working. I sent back to the cheaters they verified the product but refused to give me back the money.(They wanted to give me 25 usd in points). I choose the repair option, they send back to me the same back quality 1 hour working item.
Now when I sent the proving video they said they can’t do anything and they give me 10 usd in points.
Totally I lost 64 usd + 20 usd sending back a totally unuseless non working item.

    antelife . . .

I bought some 4 or 5 iphone 2 clones from fastcardtech 4 years ago. One of those I never received (30 dollars more or less). So it’s a matter of luck, specially with the customs, they will send you their stuff, they are not thieves, but there are other important risks in the way.

I have recently used merimobiles.com and bought the iOcean X7. in less than two weeks, I’ve recieved it and am quite happy with their service.

In the past I have used fastcardtech, but it was a nightmare. Not only it took ages for the device to arrive, but they sent me the wrong item, and not only was it wrong but it was faulty. Battery drain for normal usage was less then 4 hours. When I tried contacting support they told me that the didn’t ship that device which I *had* in my hand. After 20 or more emails I tried contacting their Skype support and after talking with the guy (for a frustrating 2hours), he just told me I broke the phone and they would not repair, then blocked me off. So avoid fastcardtech for sure!!

I recently ordered 2 phones from merimobiles (M3 and K900). They told me to pay extra 10$ for EMS. This means 8-16 days arrival time. The order was dellivered 28 days after I paid it (12/06/2014). It took them 9 days to ship it. According to their site ( https://www.merimobiles.com/help-order-status/#28 ) I should have received it till 9/6/2014 and it should have shipped after 1 day. They agreed that they new there is a problem of delay with EMS, and again the y asked to pay them the extra money for my order. The phones came alright, but I’ll never again buy from them

Bought a Vowney v5 from Merimobiles without any issues and 2 xiaomi redmi 1s from spemall without any issues and other stores that no longer exist. Been lucky. To be honest when I order from Chinese sites I don’t expect any support or replacements if a product is faulty. I just don’t spend lots of money with them and know that I am taking a risk and hope for the best. Been in the game far too long to trust Chinese exporter customer service, right back to the pre android mp4 player days. I just make sure I pay with paypal so i can file a dispute if necessary. Avoid Geekbuying. They respond you until they get your money. But, when you make the payment or have any other problem, it takes probably 2-3 days for you to get reponse. Avoid using DHL/TNT/UPS cargo as well. They are expert in receiving your money, but they do not know when you have problems on customs or shipping. I bought ZOPO 998 mobile phone and it took then 7 days to make the shippment. I would never used this company any of my online shopping and I would strongly encourage all the users to stay away, if you do not want to be sad and frauded by online this online black hole.

    en.jd.com

    Product: Coolpad 9976A

    positive:
    + “in stock”-information was correct.
    + fast shipping

    negative:
    – insufficient cushioning resulted in triple customs check, due to badly damaged packaging

    – addtional 25€ TNT-handling-fee

3x Lenovo A820 at different months last year. All 3 were shipped very quickly.
Good packaging and they usually respond fast. Delivery depends – sometimes it’s very fast, sometimes slow (actually normal for China/HK post).
Prompt updates for shipping dates and tracking number.
Had one order cancellation and they reacted quickly.
They seem to try add your language, thus sometimes breaking the rom (e.g. buying Xiaomi from them is not a good idea, unless you convince them to leave it with the stock rom), otherwise I believe there sell 100% genuine phones.

2 years ago purchased a Star mobile from Aliexpress they sent wrong and very faulty phone to UK, it was a horrific experience trying to communicate with them language wise and website wise end result I will never use that company again, no replacement phone or repair £130 down the drain. Purchased a Cubot One from WMicroUK on Amazon perfect transaction quick to rectify any problems great language skills would highly recommend. Bought an iOcean G7 from merimobiles, good price quick delivery good communication, only one bad point my phone has light bleed on the bottom left corner but I simply couldn’t face having to send it back so can’t comment on after sale with that company but would buy from them again. Purchased a battery and 2 cases from banggood.com cases arrived very quickly battery took 6 weeks which is unnaceptable in my opinion so I’m just not sure if I’d buy from them again and also when I opened my paypal case for non receipt of battery they requested I close the case in order to get a refund which is typical of Chinese sellers and sneaky…? ?

Beware of Xiaomishop.com. They are scammers. They say that they have stock in eu-warehouse. you order from then and the only shipping method is very expensive express for 36 Dollars. after 4 days nothing happened I wrote them to get an update. after one day they told me they have no stock and will send the phone from china. So I’ve paid this extra money for the shipping and a higher price for the phone to get it then from china. I’ve opened a dispute on paypal, they send the money back then.
Now I’ve ordered from beexz.com. We will see what will happen. My experience with much chinese sellers was always bad. Ordered from Geekbuying 3 times, first time was okay, but the other two orders ordered via express need weeks to ship and arrive. Also to2c, one time ordered via express, 3 weeks shipping time. The only one who send the item in time is etotalk but you have higher prices and everytime pay high taxes via dhl.

Avoid One Plus, they are hopeless, deliver faulty products then you end up having to pay postage to return everything (assuming what you ordered turned up after a lied to wait). One of my worse purchases ever and 2*courier postage out of pocket!

I used Banggood.com a few times for electronics stuff and bought iocean x7, they always deliver. All my purchases are all by normal shipping, takes about 3 – 4weeks to UK. They also offers express shipping however I’ve no use it therefore can’t comment.

Most experience with the purchase I have on Antelife. I bought 3 phones from them and 1 won on a recent competition in Brasilia 2014. Winning the phone not arrived, but it is a mistake Czech mail that it takes a very long time.
    – Communication on online chat went well, I asked whether the goods are in stock
    – Send it to 3 days
    – Over DHL delivered within 7 days
    – I do not recommend using singapore post, it takes a long time and I still have to pay VAT
    – With complaint phones do not experience
    – I ordered ZOPO ZP700, HERO 7500 +, INEW V3, and now I’m waiting on winning BLUBOO X1

All my purchases are made on Antelife.
In this online store, prices are very competitive and communication fast and efficient! I will certainly buy my future smartphone on this store.
In France, if you choose the standard delivery you can avoid bargains. The delivery takes about 2 weeks.
I order 3 zopo phones, umi x2 and many others accessories.

I made this little list with my experience from some years buying online

    Best Stores
-DX (reputable and very well known)
-Banggood (excellent post-sale service, though prices are usually a little bit higher)

    Recommended Stores
    – Apolloshow [Aliexpress](Good service and fast shipment, also recommended by a lot of people, here I bought my first chinese phones)
    – Goldway [Aliexpress](Recommended by a lot of people, personally I received a refurbished phone but arrenged a partial refund, otherwise the service is good and I think they have a warehouse in spain)
    – Alegrecompra (Recommended by a lot of people, pretty well known in a spanish forum)

    Probably Good Stores
    – Ugood [Aliexpress](Bought a Oneplus One last week and receiving it soon, so far the shipping is fast and the service is good, also I think they have a warehouse in spain as I contacted a forum member that said that it’s working with them and also gave me a discount)
    – New Concept [Aliexpress](Haven’t bought from them yet but in a spanish forum they usually give discounts for certain phones in groupsale, seems it’s a good store)
    – Brucomax Electronics [Aliexpress](Haven’t bought from them yet but in the comments says that their service is great, the prices aren’t the lowest, I was considering buying my OnePlus from them]
    – Shenzhen Top-One [Aliexpress](Same as above, but prices are a little bit higher)

    Probably Bad Stores
    – Geekbuying (Haven’t bought from them yet but potentially bad, read below)
    – Spemall (Same as above, read below)

    AVOID THIS AT ALL COST
    – Tinydeal (They send you the stuff but if they broke they may ignore you, repair it asking money, “repair it” and send it back broken, or give you a miserable refund)
    – Antelife (Same as above)
    – Pandawill (Same as above, specially this may seem a good store but just read the forum before potentially wasting your money)

I can say good things about antelife. I ordered some Star S4 look-alikes with mtk6589 there because they were the cheapest. Got the phones fast and there was even a extra-battery included which was not part of the description. Later I asked them if there was a new firmware and they checked with the factory and to my surprise they sent me a new rom that wasn’t even on needrom at that time. So overall Antelife seems to be a great shop.I’m going to buy the THL 5000 there too, its available now 🙂

The only good experiences with 1949deal. I have buy about 10 phones at this store (iNew V3, Hongmi, THL T11, ZTE Nubia Z5S mini, Cubot X6, Doogee Pixels). They are fast responsible and make presale checking for goods. Shipping also is fast (to Russia 17-22 days) use SG Post. Live chat is helpful to avoid misunderstanding.

ibuygou.com didn’t reply to my emails but my wanting the product got the better of me and I ordered anyway. Not only did it arrive in 4 days, Christmas Day was in the middle of those 4 days. That’s 10 days quicker than the Christmas cards took to get 150 miles from Newcastle back home to Manchester. Thinking the gift wrap was fantastic to help me avoid import tax, they had actually gone one step further and put in an invoice for a 20quid motherboard, so if the package was opened at customs it showed below the 30 quid no duty limit. This was a 1st edition wcdma Xiaomi Hongmi with spare battery and battery charging pack. All arrived without so much as a dint. Phone has been great. It is totally scratched been stood on face down, slammed around by the kids and beaten up in my pocket on a building site for 6 months. I now have a tiny screen flicker but that is down to my not protecting it. 1GB RAM is not quite enough for my use and sat nav is a bit dodgy on that chipset but photos and videos totally respectable and miui is amazing os. Phone 10/10 for price range. ibuygou.com (barring no reply to email) 100% top drawer service. Gizchina 10/10 for giving me the info to choose the right phone. Peace!
