In a Facebook post made today, Meizu let slip that their next device will ship with Flyme 4.0.

If all the rumours surrounding the next Meizu devices are true, the number 4 plays a large role. Going over what we believe to be true at this moment, the next flagship Meizu will be called the Meizu MX4, it will have 4G LTE, could possibly have a 5.4-inch display, and will run Flyme 4.0. Ah, yes 4 device are expected in total also!

Flyme is Meizu’s own highly customised ROM based on Android. The current Flyme 3.0 is already based on Android 4.4 Kitkat so chances are that Flyme 4.0 will also run Kitkat with an update to Android L in the future.

So how do we know that the next Meizu phone will run Flyme 4.0? Well, Meizu themselves let slip in a Facebook post today!

In other news today, there are rumours that Alibaba have invested around $900 million in to Meizu. If accurate this is one hell of a cash investment for the phone maker and may lead to more surprises from Meizu this year.

Meizu makes excellent devices, no doubt about it. But why not take advantage of the partnership they have with conanical and provide consumers the option to have Ubuntu aswell. If meizu MX4 comes with android + ubuntu, I am getting one even if it costs 7-800 $

If that is a picture of the MX4 above…then that is an Ubuntu lock screen not Flyme. Could it be that the MX4 could also be available with Ubuntu Touch!
