Infocus launch their 2014 flagship killer, the InFocus M810 for $334!

Taiwanese phone maker InFocus, an OEM set up by Foxconn, have launched it’s flagship of the year, one that could be an alternative 2014 flagship killer.

Since the OnePlus One launched, the term ‘Flagship Killer’ has been thrown around a lot, but only a few phones really reach their goal of slaying flagship phones. The OPO is one due to it’s price and hardware, and the InFocus M810 is another.

Like the OnePlus One the M810 has a 5.5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080 display, 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 801 processor and from 16GB internal memory. There is also 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel main camera, 5 mega-pixel front and 4G LTE.

The phone also boasts a micro SD card expansion tray, 2600mAh battery and thin 6.99mm body manufactured by the same company who put together iPhones and iPads. The most amazing feature though is a retail price of only $334, which makes it only slightly more than the OPO and the recently launched Xiaomi Mi4!

They must be wanting to increase market reach and desirability..then only two small steps needed. 1. Dual Sim 2. 3500 mAh. Batt.in lieu of 2600…of course an image stabilizer will further enhance the FLAGSHIP KILLER moniker.

  100% agree. With Dual SIM, a battery of 3000 mAh at least and an OIS this would be well worth the $334. In my opinion even $400.
  But they keep failing to implement such basic things! I mean fuck the 6.99mm. It can be 7.99 if it means bigger battery and Dual SIM.

The next goal for chinese phone suppliers is optical image stabilisation and laser focus I don’t care about fingerprint scanners.

I’m not sure if I’d agree with labeling this a flagship killer.
OnePlus set the bar, and this device falls short in a nearly every way.

My Flagship Killer of 2014
– Dual Sim supporting 4G LTE on 800, 1900 and 2600 (Both SIMs)
– 5,5″ screen with minimum 1920×1080 (2k would be nice but a screen that size will take 20% off the battery and you cant see the difference on the screen)
– 3500-4000mA battery to cover the entire day (Then I dont need the battery to be interchangable)
– 2 GB RAM/16 GB RAM or 3 GB RAM/64 GB RAM (Should cover OS upgrades)
– SD Expansion slot
– Processor must be SnapDragon 801 or MT6595 (Newest chips makes it possible to get OS upgrades)
– Metal frame (Preferrable titanium to keep weight down but alluminium is OK)
– Screen of Gorilla Corning 3 for durability
– Rubber sleves for protecting the phone, not plastic (I am going everywhere with my phone so it needs protection)
– Backcover made of plastic with a gripfriendly pattern
– Small bezels to minimize the width of the phone but big enough for the rubber sleve to hold on to the phone
– Colors should be black, white and brushed metal
– OS must be minimum 4.4.2
– Fingerprint identification
– NFC (Ultimately it will catch on, but not yet)
– Camera should be 16Mp
– Flat back cover (Trying to hit a button when the back is shaped like a sphere is not fun)
With this, not at all cheap setup, I can go anywhere and do what the japanese have done, namely have my life in my phone
I will expect this “Killer Flagship” to last 1½-2 years and in that time, I will be able to get updates and upgrades, if not from the vendor, then most likely from XDA developer forums.
