Rikomagic are one of the most popular makers of Android powered TV boxes from China, and are all set to start shipping their next-gen TV boxes starting later this month.
The Rikomagic MK902 II is what we’re talking about, and the Rockchip RK3288 powered Android TV box is now in place and ready to be shipped starting around 15th this month. Unlike many other Rockchip powered TV boxes, the MK902 II will come with Android v4.4 which is a welcome sign.
At just $100 apiece (wholesale), the MK902 II packs quite a punch. Besides the quad-core CPU on the RK3288, the MK902 II comes with an ARM Mali T-764 GPU, to render sharp graphics. Along with that, there’s 2GB of RAM and 8GB/16GB of on-board storage, which you can expand via microSD. Also on board is a 5 mega-pixel camera, something you don’t usually see on TV boxes such as this one.
Gizchina News of the week
While the wholesale prices of this one are expected to hover around the $100 mark, 20-30% more is what you should expect to pay if you’re looking for a retail purchase.
As Brad Linder of liliputing points out correctly, it will indeed be interesting to see how well such devices fare, with Google’s Android TV right around the corner!
