Jack Wong, the founder of Meizu, has posted a new screenshot on his Weibo account showing the Flyme 4.0 lockscreen and tells us news will be coming on the 18th August!

Originally posted on Weibo, and reposted by the Meizu team on their official Facebook page, the screenshot shows us the lock screen of Flyme 4.0. Important details to take away from this are the flatter design of the text, which mirror previous leaks, and also the fact the phone running the OS has a 4G LTE signal.

Excitingly Meizu have also told us that we should expect more news on the 18th August. The news could be related to Flyme 4.0, or might be the first official details of the Meizu MX4. It will be interesting to see how Xiaomi react to today’s post as it comes just a day before the Beijing phone maker launches MIUI V6 which is also going to have an all new flat UI.

In addition to the Jack Wong leak, another Meizu official has also posted an image of Flyme 4.0’s notification area which clearly shows an LTE toggle and new layout plus icons. According to the resolution of the originally posted image the display ratio of the forthcoming Meizu MX4 will be 15:9 with and resolution of 2560 x 1536.

There is a lot riding on the new Meizu device(s). After the OnePlus One, and Xiaomi Mi4 launch, all eyes are on Meizu to see what they will come up with. The recent investment news will also add additional pressure on the company as investors will be looking to see how the public react to the next Meizu flagship phone.

What do you think Meizu have up their sleeve? Are they about to shock the world with something radical? Or will they stick to their rather traditional marketing and design style?

looks rather iOS-ey. not such a bad thing, because Flyme has been very creative in the past in other areas, so I’m sure it’ll be great
