Elephone offering 2 year warranty and 1 year free service

Elephone have announced some exciting which will interest possible customers. Their phones will new get a 2 year warranty plus 1 year free repair service.

One of the issues that customers face when purchasing a Chinese Android smartphone is if the warranty will be valid outside of China, and how long the warranty will be valid for.

This has been less of an issue in recent times as Chinese are better quality than in the past, but it is still a concern to many.

Chinese phone maker Elephone have announced that its range of Android products now has a 2 year warranty for international buyers. As far as we know Elephone are the only Chinese company offering a 2 year warranty on their devices! In addition to an extended warranty, customers will also get 1 year free repair service. We don’t know if this will include shipping and component cost, but at the least is is something.

If there is only one year free parts and service, what do you gain having ‘2 year warranty’?

  That made me scratch my head as well. I guess with the second year you can send it to them to fix it but you have to pay for it, which is what you would have to do in years 3 and 4 as well….

I was looking all the time to buy Chinese phone, but since I live in Europe, the problem – warranty. I think it’s a nice step Elephone.

  That made me scratch my head as well. I guess with the second year you can send it to them to fix it but you have to pay for it, which is what you would have to do in years 3 and 4 as well….

Good move on Elephone’s part but if they really want to join the major league, elite Chinese phone players like OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Hauwei – they must pay better attention to quality control, beef up build quality and offer over the air firmware upgrades on all their phones going forward. The P2000, for example, when introduced had no widgets. Christopher Strasser did a nice video review on the P2000, then later updated his review here on Gizchina with an article entitled “Elephone P2000: Bad Luck or Bad Components Quality”. Elephone has a great product line-up. Their new G3 for example, aimed at seniors looks brilliant. And the new LTE capable P3000 looks like it has promise. If Elephone want’s to succeed, they also need to open service centers in countries where they’re selling most into, such as India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greece, Russia, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Germany and Croatia.

It’s only for phones sold on the 19th August 2014, then there is no more 2 year warranty.

After checking out the elephone.hk website, I’m sorry to say I won’t be buying another Elephone product anytime soon (I own two P8 phones, each with their own issues).
Read for example, under the ‘News’ section “The reason why GPS doesn’t work on P6i” article. What a joke! Then there’s the service section that’s constantly posting links to ROMs to fix old and new bugs. Some of the links show up as malware sites. How many ‘regular folks’ even know what flashing a ROM means? It makes me wonder who is Elephone’s target audience? Certainly not former Apple and Samsung appliance operators. Caveat emptor.

I hope this applies to my elephone p6 (probably not)
I have sent them dozens of emails / complaints and they just dont respond
This is a horrible phone with lots of issues.
Just check the mtkforums to see the complaints

If they open service centres in India before any other Chinese OEM & launched their phones as Xiaomi did then it’ll be huge market for them & it leads them to another level in market of smartphones.
