The LG G3 might have been the inspiration for the KingSing S2, and many will call it a clone, but perhaps we can forgive this one as it costs only $120, has a heart monitor and stereo speakers!
Glance over the specs of the KingSing S2 and you will see similar features to pretty much every other mid-range Chinese phone on the market. There is a 5-inch OGS display, 1GB RAM and a quad-core MT6582 processor, but the difference is in the details.
First of all the design is stunning by default. If I was tempted to own a non-Chinese phone the LG G3 would be the device I would buy. The slim bezels of the original Korean phone have made it to the Chinese wannabe as have the rear mounted volume controls.
Trawling though the official KingSing K2 details on their website and there are a few nice, and unexpected details. For a phone that costs only $120 it is impressive to see 1.6mm screen bezels, and a 76.4% screen to body ratio.
Gizchina News of the week
A metal chassis might not sound cutting edge, but at this price range it’s good to see some sturdy construction methods are being employed. It is also great to see a heart rate sensor built-in to the phone, stereo speakers (even if they are on the base) and Android 4.4 Kitkat!
