The Ice Bucket Challenge has spread the globe and firmly arrived in China, with Xiaomi co-founder and CEO, Lei Jun being one of the first to take it.
The Ice Bucket Challenge is a promotion designed to spread social media platforms and spread the awareness for ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) a neurodegenerative disease which affects nerve cells. Celebrities and tech leaders across the U.S have already helped to raise millions for ALS through viral “Ice Bucket” videos starring the likes of Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerburg and Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Xiaomi have now imported the challenge to China and the first to take the icy plunge was Xiaomi’s co-founder Lei Jun. As the rules require, Lei Jun has to pass the challenge on to other well-known persons in China. Jun’s choices are movie actor Andy Lau, and Foxconn boss Terry Gou who must now complete the challenge in 24 hours.
