Meizu had already confirmed the lack of steel in their next device, and have confirmed that they will be using Magnesium alloy instead.
One of the big selling points of the Xiaomi Mi4 is it’s use of stainless steel in the body. For Xiaomi this was a big change and has certainly improved the look and feel of the Mi4, but for other companies the use of Stainless Steel is already old news. Meizu even took the opportunity during the Mi4 hype to point out they had been using steel for years and will be moving on to a new material with their next phone.
The premium Chinese phone maker have had us guessing to what it could be, although tipsters had long hinted that a Magnesium alloy would be in use on the MX4. Seems they were correct too, as today Meizu’s Facebook page made a post confirming the use of “Aircraft Grade Magnesium Alloy”.
They also had a sly dig at Xiaomi saying “Who needs steel?nbsp;Advanced, aircraft grade alloys are where it’s really at!”.
