The hotly anticipated Xiaomi Redmi 1S now has a launch date for India.
After Xiaomi’s Mi 3 turned out to be a massive success, the more affordable Xiaomi Redmi 1S is now set to see a launch in the country. Touted as a competitor to the now-discontinued Motorola Moto G, the Redmi 1S comes with specifications that are very similar, but better in some aspects. In fact, during our testing of the Redmi 1S, it turned out the smartphone has an amazing camera.

The launch events for India are pegged for 25th and 26th of August, for Bangalore and Delhi respectively. According to previous teasers from Xiaomi, the Redmi 1S will be priced INR6,999 or $115, and is expected to generate even more interest than the Mi 3. In related news, Xiaomi’s Mi Power Banks went on pre-sale via Flipkart last night. However, it looks like the entire allotment is pre-booked and orders can’t be placed anymore until further re-stocking.

Xiami must ensure Sales start with cache of at least 1 lakh Redmi 1S..coz less than this would only bring critical comments..from disgruntled Indians.
I sold my Redmi 1s. Too many software bugs in MIUI and the camera is an overrated joke. There are much better phones out there in this price range.

The Redmi 1s competes directly with the Moto G but has marginally better specs than the Moto G also expandable storage is a big plus. I admit MIUI might not be everyone’s cup of tea but the hardware and quality the Redmi 1s provides at Rs 6,999 is unbeatable.
