OnePlus One explodes in trouser pocket!

oneplus one explosion

So what are OnePlus in the headlines for this time? More controversial promotions? Or a new invite policy? Nope this time it is much more serious and harmful!

Over on the OnePlus forums today, customer and fan of the Chinese phone start up MiYzu, posted photos of his OnePlus One. Nothing out of the ordinary there, except this OPO had exploded which he was in the subway!

According to MiYzu, he was simply walking through the subway when his OnePlus One exploded in his back pocket. The resulting explosion ripped a hole through the jeans and burnt the skin of the user’s leg. The phone of course is totally destroyed and the incident has sparked a 39 page thread on the official OnePlus forums.

The OnePlus team have already responded saying that the phone will be replaced, and any financial loss or medical expenses will be covered by the company, suggesting that either they are trying to be really helpful about the situation or have already accepted liability.

Gizchina News of the week

So far this is the first OnePlus One explosion and the victim in the incident had commented that the phone did get hot while charging. Exploding phones do hit the headlines now and then and even Apple have had their share of complaints in the past.

As for OnePlus, well it is an unfortunate situation for the company and they do seem to be handling it as they should, although there are comments on the forum suggesting MiYzu sue the phone maker.

OnePlus One Explosion

MiYzu, seems to be taking things well considering a phone exploded in his pants.

What would you do in this situation? Would you take it on the chin and accept what the company offers or would you go to court?

After posting the explosion of the phone, the thread starter did not explain further on the various comments from the forum readers, kinda odd isn’t it?

This is for 99% sur an asshole who is thinking about being in news and then he drops his phone in a oven -_-(That was also the problem by a iPhone user)

I have an OnePlus One and itvis the best phone brand which I ever hat! Yes I know that there are problems with spme phones but they have good support and this is amazingly epic that they announce in December and have a phone in Juli for everyone ready. I’ve now 2 invites(for the people who say: I don’t get a invite, register on forum!)

The only thing epic is that 1+ took an OPPO Find , made a few changes and none of these tech writers called them out for it. Goophone, on the other hand is always vilified for its “clones”

Your reply shouts fanboy. What is original about a phone when the design is a tweaked version of an existing phone. Also their invite system isn’t really original either (Xiaomi). Is he still an ahole if the phone explodes in your pocket? Good that OP takes the matter seriously and hopefully they will soon know if the accident was caused by an user error or not.

Yes, OPO is perfect holiness incarnate and their product is flawless defectless mass manufactured item. This is a breach of our faith. This need to be corrected. This is war.

So because you love your phone this guy obviously must be lying? Got it. It’s not like OPO is known for being a shady company with horrible business practices or anything. Oh wait….

the problem is in the android os, it should have an option or app that close any app that uses cpu on 100% for more then 3 minutes, or if the screen is closed the cpu must not be on more then 30%, if it does then close the app that eats the cpu.

    • roni
      August 26, 2014

another app, if the battery makes the phone hot, then stop charging and wait 5 minuets
      and then recharge.

Sounds like a lemon to me, given it happens not often at all. If I were him, if they were willing to cover all losses (including phone and medical) I’d be content. The whole reason I’d sue is because they’d need to make up for what happened (given the fault was theirs). If they’re willing to cover the mistake, no need to sue. In fact, I’d have a great deal of respect because I know shit happens sometimes….

For the bending angle e believe that you burn throw the screen. If the burning was cased by the battery the phone don bend like you post on pics. futhermore if you have the phone in your pocket to burn your ass, it supose that the back of the phone to your ass, 1st no one use the phone in back pocket like that and if you do that the bending will be in the other diretion. So far you burn it from the screen.
