Gionee, like many Chinese phone makers, have been on a bit of a thinness binge of late, but their newest addition skips the diet and loads up on mAh.
Gionee were once a brand we at GizChina found very hard to get excited about. The company got creative though and once they started the Elife range we quickly started to take note of what they are doing.
The latest phone models from Gionee, there are 2, have swapped super thin bodies to thicker fuselages and larger batteries. The Gionee V188 still measures in at a respectable 115 x 71.45 x 10.4 mm, but now has a large 5200mAh battery. That’s more than double the battery size found on some current phones and larger than the previous Gionee V185 by almost 900mAh!
Gizchina News of the week
So the battery is the killer feature in Gionee V188, but that’s not all the new smartphone has to offer. There is also a quad-core Mediatek processor, LTE, Android 4.4.2, 720p HD display and Mediatek’s own NFC rival Hotknot too!
Customers in China can order the Gionee V188 right now for 1499 Yuan, international customers will have to wait until Gionee, or resellers begin selling the phone elsewhere.

“respectable 115 x 71.45 x 10.4…”
well that would look weird. it’s actualy 144 not 115
What mediatek chip that will have? I like it!
The Chinese Website says MTK6582 Quad-Core-LTE combo. So probably the MTK6582 with that additional module for LTE.
144mm is still very ok. I assume it will be 5″? Will it have Dual SIM? IF yes this is my absolute favourite. Even better than the THL 5000. I totally dig the 720p over 1080p!!!
