What’s the best you can get out of $30? I’m sure different readers will have different answers to that question, but I’m also sure none of you are going to say, a smartphone. Well, it’s certainly far from the best but the Jivi JSP 20 is an Android phone that costs $32!
As you would’ve guessed it by now, the Jivi JSP 20 comes from China’s neighbouring country of India. Jivi is known for its feature phone offerings, and the JSP 20 is a big step ahead for the company.
Before you start bashing the specs sheet of the phone, you should realize that the device is meant for those who’re looking for a cheap-ass feature phone in the market. The JSP 20, in turn, aims to offer a very basic, more than entry-level Android experience to users.
Gizchina News of the week
It comes with a 3.5-inch display that does an HVGA resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, a 2 mega-pixel rear camera with flash and a 1GHz processor, that along with 128MB of RAM keep the show going. The version of Android is a dive into the past though; the entry-level hardware isn’t enough to support requirements of KitKat and hence the JSP 20 comes with Android v2.3.5 Gingerbread.
If not anything else, the JSP 20 will certainly make manufacturers of Firefox OS phones think again about their monopoly in the entry-level market.
The last time we talked about an extremely affordable phone, we got a lot of comments from readers that thought 256MB RAM was far too less. What do you have to say about 128MB of it?
