Xiaomi started their operations in India with an unspecified number of Mi 3 units on July 22nd. After a handful flash sales of the Mi 3, Xiaomi moved on to the Redmi 1S earlier this month. From what we can see, Xiaomi is concentrating more on the Redmi 1S than it did on the Mi 3.
The Redmi 1S goes for 5,999 INR in India, comparatively lesser than other markets where Xiaomi sells the phone. Xiaomi has already had three flash sales in the country this month, all of which didn’t last very long. With a 60,000 strong inventory, Xiaomi and the to-be buyers would hope for the inventory to last atleast a few minutes, so that everyone gets a fair chance at purchasing the Redmi 1S.
This is the first time that Xiaomi is selling 60,000 units of the Redmi 1S. Previous sales saw 40,000 units being sold at once at maximum.
Gizchina News of the week
During our review of the Redmi 1S earlier this year, we found the smartphone to be an excellent piece of kit for its then price of about $130. At $99, the phone is a complete no-brainer and beats any other device in its range, including Android One phones, hands-down.
As usual, the Redmi 1S will be available via Flipkart.
