Meizu and Xiaomi have been at each others throats this past week with the war of words finally drawing out some interesting details of a future mid-range phone.
The Meizu MX4 has launched, but Jack Wong of Meizu promised us at least 4 phones before the end of the year so where are they? Well we have heard rumours and even seen leaks of the Meizu MX4 Pro, this will be Meizu’s true flagship device, so what about the other end of the scale.
According to details posted by Meizu bosses on Weibo recently, a lower cost Meizu phone is also in the works, one that hopes to take on the popular Xiaomi Redmi range. The mid-range Meizu, possibly the Meizu MX4 Mini, could cost as little as 1499 Yuan and will be official available around the globe.
Gizchina News of the week
Early details say the MX4 Mini will feature a 1080 display, octacore MT6592 processor, 4G LTE and space for a micro SD card. In comparison the Redmi from Xiaomi with LTE only has a 720p display and single SIM, but does cost only 800 Yuan.
With Meizu and Xiaomi fighting in public it will be interesting to see if the Meizu MX4 Mini will actually emerge with a lower price just to undermine the Redmi. What do you think?
