Xiaomi is quite a remarkable company. Within only four years they have managed to achieve things their competitors are still dreaming of. The once small start-up from China not only managed to create a huge world-wide community consisting of over 70 million people, they also managed to become the world’s 5th largest phone manufacturer. The key to success: Affordable phones featuring high-end specs and perfectly optimized software / hardware ecosystem, and of course their Redmi line-up, which enabled them to achieve several huge successes within the mid-range market.
Gizchina News of the week
Now Xiaomi have done it again: The Xiaomi Redmi 1S has become the world’s 4th best-selling phone. According to CST, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S is even being called the worlds most popular phone, going off sales volume alone. In India, Xiaomi’s most recent choice of expansion, the company sells around 40,000 units per week.
Will Xiaomi be able to continue making its way on this path of success? Hard to say for sure, but listening to current rumors they probably will, as the same are claiming a new Redmi phone to be in the works, featuring Mediatek’s MT6595 powerhouse, 3GB of RAM and a 20.7 mega pixel camera. If those rumors are true remains to be seen. We certainly have a little doubt, as such a phone would compete against another phone by Xiaomi, the Mi4.
