The Xiaomi vs Meizu saga continues with the two phone companies trading blows on Chinese social networks, and now things are getting really with rumours that Xiaomi will take on Meizu’s MX4 with a range of flagship Redmi phones.
Ever since Meizu released the MX4, there has been a lot of tension between them and Xiaomi. The atmosphere has even boiled over in to name calling, and now could be the spring board from which Xioami will release a new range of phones.
Gizchina News of the week
According to sources close to Xiaomi, the Beijing based phone maker is now working on a new range of ‘flagship’ Xiaomi Redmi phones that will range from 999 Yuan to 1499 Yuan and will come equipped with Mediatek’s MT6595 processor. The rumoured phones are believed to be a serious update over the current Redmi line up and will feature LTE a metal body similar to the Mi4, a 5.5-inch display, 3GB RAM, 3500mAh battery and even the same 20.7 mega-pixel rear camera the MX4 packs.
If such a range is in development we would have to believe that Xiaomi are planning on getting the phones up and ready for production sooner rather than later to avoid Meizu gaining too much ground.
It is interesting to see the two companies at each other, but is it all for show or do Meizu really think they have what it takes to tackle the giant that is Xiaomi?
Nice news… Waiting for see that MTK redmi 🙂
5,5″ is to much
They already have the Mi3 and Mi4 at 5 inch and 1499 CNY for less than 5 inch would be too much since the Mi3 is at that price. A Note 2 with 5.5 1080p and quad A17 does make sense.A Redmi 2 with quad A17 at 999 not so much , They would be better off with 4.7 720p quad A53 , 2GB RAM and the same 699CNY.
I used to think that too. Thought I would never want a phone above 5 inches. Then I held the Note 3 and realized it wasn’t as bad as I thought, just hate the Samsung bloatware. Love my 5.5 Nubia now.
Let the fight begin, we will be benefited btw 🙂
Redmi Note 2 – MT6595 – 5,5″ FullHD – 2GB Ram – 13MP/2MP – 3100mAh Battery – 32Gb – Android L – $250
MIUI 6 (Kitkat) not Android L
Meizu has been planning for a long time. Some quick product from Xiaomi wont do anything. Meizu looks pretty confident to me with the way they have been releasing their products.
MT = terrible GPS…bad choice
Not anymore
Mine lock within seconds with Kitkat.
What about the screen, also 1080p or still the same 720P? Also, the Redmi phone series bezels are quite large, if they don’t change that, I will rather pay some extra money for the thinner bezels of MX4.
Besides, Meizu will follow up soon with a cheap model to compete against the Redmi phone series if we believe the rumors.
Terrible! 5.5″ NO NO NO NO. The edges are already huge. Imagine with this screen !!!
Can’t wait too see Xiaomi new product… Most important is must have support in software updates… Give us android L
please add backlit to redmi series, without it somehow the phone seems cheap……
Have you ever see Redmi Note?
Exactly!
I rather glad if they choose 4.7″ screen with metal frame like Mi4, it reminds me of Galaxy Alpha
cant’ wait for the FDD LTE version like in 2016 (since xiaomi always fail something #Mi3 #Mi4)
No sd no buy.
