The Xiaomi vs Meizu saga continues with the two phone companies trading blows on Chinese social networks, and now things are getting really with rumours that Xiaomi will take on Meizu’s MX4 with a range of flagship Redmi phones.
Ever since Meizu released the MX4, there has been a lot of tension between them and Xiaomi. The atmosphere has even boiled over in to name calling, and now could be the spring board from which Xioami will release a new range of phones.
Gizchina News of the week
According to sources close to Xiaomi, the Beijing based phone maker is now working on a new range of ‘flagship’ Xiaomi Redmi phones that will range from 999 Yuan to 1499 Yuan and will come equipped with Mediatek’s MT6595 processor. The rumoured phones are believed to be a serious update over the current Redmi line up and will feature LTE a metal body similar to the Mi4, a 5.5-inch display, 3GB RAM, 3500mAh battery and even the same 20.7 mega-pixel rear camera the MX4 packs.
If such a range is in development we would have to believe that Xiaomi are planning on getting the phones up and ready for production sooner rather than later to avoid Meizu gaining too much ground.
It is interesting to see the two companies at each other, but is it all for show or do Meizu really think they have what it takes to tackle the giant that is Xiaomi?
