Xiaomi have not taken the launch of the Meizu MX4 well. The 1799 Yuan Meizu has seriously blindsided the Beijing phone maker who look set to retaliate with a lower cost version of the Xiaomi Mi4.
This is not the first time a rival phone maker has taken it upon themselves to release a phone that targets Xiaomi customers. Huawei, IUNI and OnePlus have all launched 1999 Yuan smartphones in China, but it wasn’t until Meizu released the 1799 Yuan MX4 that Xiaomi really got pissed.
Since the release the 2 companies have been bickering via Weibo and other Chinese social media, and rumours surrounding the two companies suggest they will both have new products launching very soon.
For Xiaomi this could mean a new low-cost version of the Xiaomi Mi4 which was leaked in TENAA documents earlier today. This new version of the Mi4 shows just 2GB RAM and 16GB memory, compared to the standard Mi4’s 3GB RAM and 32GB. Other hardware remains unchanged including the 5-inch display, LTE support and the all important Snapdragon 801 processor. The small changes to memory will still allow the Mi4 to perform very well, but at a lower retail price that some are suggesting could be just 1799 Yuan!

In other news there is a rumour that Xiaomi could be launching an Ultimate version of the Xiaomi Redmi phone. The new Redmi is though to get a 5.5-inch 1080 display, 2GB RAM, 16GB memory, 5 mega-pixel front camera, 13 mega-pixel rear, MIUI 6 and either a Snapdragon 615 or Mediatek MT6595 octacore processor.
Meizu are not down and out yet though. The companies CEO and founder, Jack Wong, has confirmed there will be at least 3 more device coming from his company this year. A Meizu MX4 Pro and Meizu MX4 Mini are believed to be just two of them.
