Xiaomi experienced unexpected success with its ex-flagship, i.e., the Mi 3 when it launched the device for the Indian market this July. All sales, besides the very first (when Flipkart servers experienced a crash), managed to last less than just 5 seconds.
Xiaomi quickly learnt from its mistakes, and roped in additional units of the Redmi 1S for following sales and put Mi 3 sales on hold. It wasn’t clear if the Mi 3 would ever be made available again, but fortunately for hopefuls, it will. At an ongoing event in Bengaluru, India, Xiaomi announced that the Mi 3 would be available yet again for its consumers in India.
It’ll be around the festival of Diwali when the device will be available for purchase. There’s no clear word on how many units will be on sale, but Xiaomi did say that it’ll be in ‘limited numbers’.
Pricing and stocks
Pricing is expected to be the same at 13,999 INR or US$230, as is the retail partner (Flipkart). Another e-retailer did list a couple of Xiaomi phones, but it isn’t clear how official it is. While you wait for the Mi 3 to be available, you might want to check out our review of the smartphone.
What other countries would you like to see the Mi 3 in at that super-lucrative cost of US$230?
