UMi Zero first official photos plus rumours of a $250 price tag

UMi are currently in the process of turning over a new leaf. The company are looking to the future and hoping to score big time with a new device will premium build quality! Take a look at the UMi Zero in these hands on first official photos and tell us what you think of the rumoured price tag.

The UMi Zero, an alloy bodied smartphone with 5-inch Super Amoled display, is about ready to hit online stores internationally. UMi have been promoting the new phone quite fiercely over the past months and suggesting that the new phone might be the start of an all new UMi as a brand.

Build quality is certainly an improvement over the previous plastic devices. We can see from leaked specs, and these first official photos that the Zero is an elegant device, and I can confirm it feels pretty good too as I have held and early production model.

These images, first published by GizChina.es, show the final production phone with 1080 display, and featuring Sony front and rear cameras, octacore MT6592T processor and 2GB RAM. Fast charging is also a feature and will help you keep the built-in 2500mAh battery topped up.

UMi Zero official photos

In addition to these photos, we have also come across an official store listing for the 137.37 x 66.36 x 6.4mm smartphone, which gives a retail price of $249.99. UMi are obviously hoping that international customers are willing to pay the premium for the UMi Zero’s high quality construction, as lack of LTE at this late a date in a new flagship seems like an odd omission.

Is the UMi Zero likely to be the next phone you buy? What do you think of the suggested retail price? Let us know in the comments below.

i hesitate between this umi zero at 250$ without 4G but super amoled screen and aluminium body, and the Nubia z7 at 295$ without super amoled screen, with plastic body but 4G.
what is ur opiion abt my alternatives ?

    • September 30, 2014

Well I have news that this is not the official price… Umi say the official RRP is $299 :O

At $299 that’s a no buy, especially since I can get a Xioami Mi 3 for less, if I want a phone without LTE that would be it.

lol, no way at $300… maybe $220, hard sell at $250.

Are they serious? At 220$ you can find Doogee 900 with lots of features at this high price it will be no sale.

MTK 6595 Soc with LTE would have won the hearts of many tech fans. Old CPU at the time when we are about to taste 64bit Soc is an odd choice no matter how well you build a phone which looks new from outside….. Umi you should have had thought about it

    Looks great but at 250 or 300$ (the same in €?) it’s a no-thanks for me…
BTW, what happened to X3? UMI doesn’t deliver imho

I fear this phone is going to be a disaster, that SOC and the slim chassis are not going to get along and design along is not going to make people pay 300 odd bucks

    Saw some pictures here:

Are these real? The Z frame you can ‘click’ on seems neat.

$299 Ain’t nobody gonna buy it over an MX4/Mi3. Worse still with the now “old” MT6592.

Same for OnePlus One @ $299…

        IUNI U3,ZTE Z7 Mini,Huawei Honor 6 etc. you gotta match their benchmarks and gpu scores,and 450MP can’t.

Umm, maybe I didn’t make it clear: I do agree that’s a too high price 😀 –> for $299, you can get a OPO instead 🙂
          Sorry to mistake you

You can also get the above listed for $300 🙂

MX4 maybe because I think it is hideous looking, Mi3 not a chance. I would even buy the Gionee S5.5 over this, which is around the same price.

        October 4, 2014

Your opinion on MX4 is of course just you, looks are biased to the beholder. It is still superior device hardwarewise for the same price,at least in china.

I wouldnt pay more then 99 Bucks if it dosnt have LTE.
Its like buying a brand new state of the art PC with a dialup modem in it.
Or a Ferrari with 1.2 liter engine… It just dont make sense

      +1 😀

Really depends where you live and what you use your phone for. In some places LTE coverage isn’t what is advertised (in some countries it is completely not existent). To some people 3G+ is more than fast enough to do what they need.

    September 30, 2014

    The bezels are too thick.

    • September 30, 2014

I would not pay more than 130§ USD for this…

As previously mentioned, I would consider an upgraded version with a 5.5 inch FHD screen and MT6595 chip, then the 250 pricetag would make sense.

So the answer to the question is a big… NO

      137.37 x 66.36 x 6.4mm , soo big bezels on images… smells like bullshiting.

Price with LTE okay, without LTE reckon it will be worth about $180 in order to secure orders!
