Late last night images from sources close to Meizu released images that claim to confirm the price and partial specs of the flagship Meizu MX4 Pro smartphone.

Meizu are believed to be launching their true 2014 flagship device at the end of this month. Although earlier reports suggested that the Meizu MX4 pro will be basically physically the same as the current MX4, we have now learned that the Pro will in fact be larger and a few slight variations.

For starters the 2K display with 2560 x 1440 resolution design with in fact be a 5.4-inch panel not a 5.36-inch display. Also on the front the trademark halo button will be replaced with a rectangle physical button that is believed to also house a fingerprint scanner.

Under the hood we believe that Meizu are back with Samsung for their flagship phone and will use a 8-core Samsung Exynos 5430 processor, LTE and hifi audio will be part of the package too. So what about the price? Well the MX4 Pro in China will cost around 2499 Yuan, however we do not know how much the new phone will cost outside of China.

Intrigued about the “@ubuntu 团队” near the first image (“@ team ubuntu”)…

Could it be a dual boot version with Android Flyme 4 and Ubuntu Touch?

Why cant they make mx4 compact 4.7″

    • October 6, 2014

why? 5.4″ sounds like the right size to me! do you really want a 4.7″ 2K screen?

Becuz other 50% of the world wants a smaller dimension. One of the reason why people like their iphones incl me.
2k phones is stupid. Retina res is enough, nits and contrast of the screen are more important than 2k!

        • October 6, 2014

Well, considering how nearly ALL chinese phones are Android, and absolutely NONE are iPhones, perhaps you should go find some nice Apple supporters on another site to share your thoughts with.

Interesting how you NOW think that 4.7″ is the PERFECT size, perhaps a month ago you thought that the perfect size was 4.0″?

You’ll find little or no audience for “Apple can do no wrong” style opinions here, so saying that the iPhone 4.7″ screen and resolution are perfect is the NOT going to be a popular opinion.

Oh, and BTW it’s more like 13.2% of the world want’s a smaller dimension. The world isn’t 50% Apple and 50% Google.

Sorry my bad, I didnt expect you would take my 50% seriously. I refer to devices and not OS. I mean its all samsung vs apple and lil’ bit vs xiaomi/huawei/lenovo….
wow.. i mentioned apple and you go bananas? I should refer to HTC one m7 or moto x 2013 maybe? Im not an apple fanboy.. Im just an enthusiast for technology and smartphones. IMO 300-400 ppi is enough for a phone. that not just it, dont forget contrast and brightness.
let me approach it like you.. are you really sure 5.4 is perfect for you? not long ago chinese phones were 4.3-5.0 inches.. now 6″ are coming..or will that be ur perfect size next year? where does it end??

Ugly samsung-like button. I really don’t like these rectangle big physical buttons.

isn’t that where the fingerprint scanner is hidden?

    Sick Ugly …

    Make a 5.7 phablet with MX4 exact look. A MT6595 Turbo and the 2K screen…

    And take my money!!!

    October 5, 2014

    why not the MT6795 ?

  10. October 5, 2014

Will the pro have better audio for music listening over headphones than the MX4?

    • njren
      October 6, 2014

Is there a problem with audio in the MTK-based MX4? The MT6595 package now includes audio by Wolfson. RMAA test results for the MX4 are really good and the frequency response is as flat as the MX3, not splattered all over the graph like other MTK-based phones.

But true, Meizu might go nuts with the MX4 Pro to take back some of their “audiophile” street cred from Vivo.

      • October 7, 2014

Maybe the mx4 will do. Mine is on the way with DHL. So i hear it soon enough.

Deep breath everyone. That’s the MX3 + MS Paint. There is no new news, only recirculated rumors. And the price? Here’s the translation from the original source: “As for the price there are a variety of claims currently, 2499 is not impossible.”

    Yeah, that’s insightful.
