Xiaomi Mi Box owners and Mi TV owners who want to enjoy a little gaming are now finally able to as the Xiaomi Gamepad begins shipping to lucky customers in China.
Xiaomi’s gradual push in to new markets has seen the company become a major player in the phone market, and has seen them make waves in the tablets market and even in the living room.
Now that China has opened up the doors and lifted the game console ban, the Beijing phone maker has decided to launch a new accessory which converts existing Xiaomi TV and Mi Box systems in to Android game consoles.
The Xiaomi Gamepad is very similar to an Xbox controller or 3rd party PC gamepad. The accessory features dual analogue sticks, a direction pad and action button to the right and on the shoulders.
Gizchina News of the week
Xiaomi have only shipped the Gamepad to early, lucky, customers in China at a special low price. As usual anyone outside of China will have to wait for the device to go in to full production before resellers are able to offer them for sale.

With the winter drawing closer I quite fancy spending a few hours in front of a game, so might try the Xiaomi Gamepad out. Are any of you interested in also buying this gaming accessory?

haha this is so ridiculous. Just made an exact clone of the Xbox 360 controller. Xiaomi really need to stop all the cloning, it will be detrimental to their reputation in the long run, especially when attempting to enter the US and European markets.
That’s the standart shape of every gamepad with dual analog sticks, wtf screw xbox?
That style of controller has been around since the early 90’s well before Xbox even existed. Xioami products are unique, cheap and powerful enough that most consumers really won’t care if the Mi4 sort of resembles and Iphone.
Are you guys for real? Don’t be ridiculous. Look at the Xbox 360 controller then look at this, they are EXACTLY the same. PS1,PS2, PS3, Sega megadrive, NES, SNES, NEO GEO, Game Gear, Gameboy, master system, Wii none of them have a controller that looks like this. Xbox 360 does
gamepads produced from every freaking company, not only for the consoles
Kind of funny seeing as how the original Xbox controller (big ugly) was a clone of the Dreamcast controller…
dude I had one that has the same shape for my old PS2 😐 but they did get xbox’s analog/d-pad positions
I really don’t care as long as I like it and it works well for an acceptable price. I don’t know how similar it is to an Xbox controller as I have never seen one but this or any other controller is a controller and that’s it.
TBH I don’t mind a company copying any other one. It’s a form of flattery as they say but if the competition can give you the same/better look/quality at a lower price, that just benefits the consumers so I don’t see how that would be an outrage to anyone but fanboys of copied brands.
Patent lawsuits have gone too far anyway. Every time I hear Apple/Samsung and the other big players jumping at each other’s throats I just feel more compelled to NEVER EVER buy their overpriced products. Some companies would patent the wheels if they could and they would sue every car factory.
I completely agree with you but I guess they had to go with the most ergonomic form factor, after all the Xbox controller is the favorite amongst gamers.
The Xbox controller is the favorite among gamers who own an Xbox… I would take a dual shock over that any day, and so would millions of others who own a PS4. Millions more would take a keyboard and mouse over any controller.
Heck so longs as it ‘s cheap and it works. Why not?
any infos about the MT6595 powered Xiaomi phone ?
No mobile gamepads are complete without accelerometer and gyroscope
