Cubot continue to focus entry-level phones with the announcement of the $99.99 Cubot S168.
We usually see entry-level phones launch with flashy features like a fingerprint scanner or heart-rate monitor, but Cubot are focussing on simple features for the new S168.
At $99.99 the phone is well priced and hardware is about what we expect from an entry-level device. A quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 5-inch 960 x 540 display, Android Kitkat and OTG.
Dual SIM and an SD card for up to 32GB cards is there and camera are 8 mega-pixel front and 5 mega-pixel rear. There is nothing ‘wow’ about the Cubot, which might actually work in its favour. Without the flashy gimmicks, Cubot may have hopefully spent a little more time on optimisation and build-quality with the S168! Fingers crossed.
Cubot S168 pre-orders have already begun over son Gearbest.com, who are offering a couple a free gifts with the phone too.
friggin 5-inch… sigh
Don’t buy Cubot. I’m typing from Cubot GT99 and this thing breaks down itself. The plastic are breaking everywhere, the screen is cracked (my fault, dropped the phone from 30cm) the signal is none, because the little plug keeps disconnecting after the plastic piece that holds it attached broke. GPS ? Please,I soldered a cooper wire just to lock, forget accuracy. Everything is broken. And I don’t think they will update it to KitKat
