After more than a month since posting an opening for a General Manager’s post, OnePlus has confirm that it has finally found the right candidate.
In a forum post titled ‘The calm before the storm’, OnePlus’ Carl Pei, whom we interviewed some time back, talked about the progress that has been made on the India front. Besides announcing that a GM was found, Pei also mentions ‘smooth business negotiations’ and of course, the customary certification process.
Friends,
It’s been a while since we last connected. Since our trip to India last month, lot of things have happened behind the scenes (as usual). 🙂
Certification progress has been smooth, as have the business negotiations. With these things soon out of the way, marketing and communications will start stepping in. From here on, things will visibly begin to pick up pace.
Perhaps the most interesting part is that we’ve finally found a General Manager to help us build OnePlus India. The search has been long, and we’ve met up with a lot of talented individuals over the past months. While the final decision for this specific role was difficult, I’m sure that many of those that we’ve crossed paths with can become valuable additions to the OnePlus India team.
Gizchina News of the week
This marks an interesting turning point for OnePlus’ future, and the adrenaline is pumping at the OnePlus offices.
India, hold on for just a bit longer. You’ll hear from us again next week.
– Carl Pei, OnePlus
The last time we talked about OnePlus One in India, it was December that looked like the most probable month for a launch. This announcement gives us a feeling of that happening sooner than December… but there’s no official word yet.
In related news, the company has been teasing a new device which will be made in partnership with JBL. Also, the company announced that it is warming-up for the pre-order system that’s about to start, and that they sent out 30,000 more invites.
