If you have used a JiaYu phone then you will know just how well they are made, but you probably also know all to well how slow they are with updates with explains why the JiaYu G6 has only received Android Kitkat.
The JiaYu G6 is a fine smartphone, and one of the device that we would certainly look at if we were in the market for a large screen octacore. Recent news regarding this 5.7-inch phone is that JiaYu have finally gotten around to updating it to Android 4.4 Kitkat.
Gizchina News of the week
In addition to bring Android 4.4.2 Kitkat to the octacore phone, JiaYu have apparently made use of new drivers for the octacore MT6592 processor to help boost performance. Those of you who have the JiaYu G6 can download the ROM here.
The JiaYu G6 is currently the largest Jiayu to date, and features a 5.7-inch 1920 x 1080 display, 2GB RAM, octacore MT6592 processor and 13 mega-pixel camera all for around $350 for the 32GB version.

Weird not to see 4G here ….
You can’t magically patch in 4G via software update.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Jiayu is very disappointing regarding updates … I used to be 100% fan of them, bough several phone , G2,G3, G4 and with my G4 I still get stuck to android 4.2.1 not sure why Jiayu doesn’t upgrade previous phones as well.. Android has many bugs, including in contact/camera etc.. which get fixed in updates.. what is the point of buying a phone that doesn’t follow the Android updates ? Really too bad ! cause hardware is really fine, Jiayu, why don’t you support your previous flagships ?
@Andi : Would you mind suggesting to Jiayu to port original G4 (advanced G4HG 32GB MKT6589 ) to kitkat if you ever get a chance ? Even their latest G4 MKT5692 (which I bough for my dad) has a 10x better OS than mine (advanced G4 MKT6589) Why ?
It’s not Jiayu’s fault… mediatek dont release updates or source code for legacy chipsets.
Last time I ever buy MediaTek, as soon as RK3xx8 phone comes out I’m buying those…and this DOES make it Jiayu’s fault because they use MT65xx chipset.

I like Jiayu but they are quite disappointing lately.
Jiayu have actually been pushing alot of kitkat updates in the recent months..for their Jiayu G4S (octacore) AND Jiayu G5S..We(G4S) are currently at v4 of their official Kitkat ROM..very stable if i might add..
It also broke all JB rom if you downgrade after flashing KK v.2 and above, Jiayu refuse to even supply patch to fix it for people who are not ready yet.
