How long has the original Xiaomi Redmi been on sale for? It feels like an eternity since that blocky low-cost Mi Phone launched, so how excited are we that leaks of a refreshed model have been spotted.
When the Xiaomi Redmi first launched it was a killer deal. With a 4.7-inch 720p display, 8 mega-pixel camera and powerful processor, the phone was all that most people wanted, and the price was great too. Since the original version the phone has been updated and now has a Qualcomm chip, but that is set to end with the all new model.
Belived to go on sale in Q4, the new Xiaomi Redmi will be a flagship Mediatek phone. In other words a 1499 Yuan Mediatek MT6595 phone with aspirations to tear up the Meizu MX4.
Sources the new Redmi will boast a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, 3GB RAM and 20 mega-pixel rear camera along with LTE support.
New Xiaomi Redmi Leaked
The leaked spy image above shows a the rear panel of the alleged device, which appears to have space for a dual LED flash and features the now famous Mi Logo.
Currently only Meizu and Zopo have octacore MT6595 phones on sale, but the Redmi flagship could really take pole position once launched.

5.5″ at 1920×1080 with MT6595 and 2-3GB RAM would be the perfect specs for me… too bad it is a shitty Xiaomi phone :/
Hopefully some other brands come up with compareable stats soon.
In what sense do you consider Xiaomi to be inferior? I have to say that my Mi2S had been a pleasure to use before i dumped it for a bigger screen. Great value for money, terrific ROM and decent resale value as well… What was your experience?
in sale policy (hyping/advertising in combination with artificial supply shortage), pricing outside Asia, colorful iOS-wannabe firmware, design (either thick bezeles or iPhone “inspirated”)
I also pretty much dislike the brand image though that is less of concern because I live in Europe and nobody knows them outside Asia anyways…
There is no “artificial supply shortage” what there is incredibly high demand in countries like India and China (the two largest countries in the world). No company could keep up with the demand that exists there. Europe will be the next market that Xioami invades, they already have established warehouses there. They must be doing something right as they are now the 5th top selling manufacturer and two of their phones (Mi3 and Redmi) are in the top 10 for all phones sold.
MIUI is so highly customizable that you can make it look like just about any OS that you can think of.
rofl @ “no company can keep up with that demand”… Samsung sells FIVE TIMES as many Smartphones and I never ever read taht they run dry on stock while Xiaomi runs dry every pathetic “flash sale” where they even feel they need to fake the numbers of units sold…
so … you never used a Xiaomi Phone. I live in Chile and there’s a lot of people know them. I have Mi2 and Mi3, never have a problem with both.
True Dual Boot it’s a great thing if you want to put another ROM. Till now I don’t have any complaints.
if you wanna name a shitty sale policy company you could name One Plus One.
What’s so bad about Xiaomi? My Mi3 has been good to me, and my cousins Redmi 1S is pretty good as well. Did you have some sort of bad experience with the brand? Are you just prejudiced?
Most stupid comment ever
I just bought a Mi4 (after selling my Nubia Z7) and it was one of the best phones I have ever used (also had a Mi3). You might not like Xioami but they are far from “shitty” they have excellent build, excellent customer service and MIUI is one of the best versions of android available.
Hello again, So you are recommending the Mi4 over Nubia Z7? You tried the OnePlus One yet?
I am against the OnePlus One because of their shady marketing practices. Having said that both the Z7 and the Mi4 are great phones, I just prefer MIUI over Nubia UI which is why I made the switch.
So, giving away faked “flashsale” quantities and advertising phones month before they are even available for purchase and than oofering them with an artifical limited supply to create more hype are non-shady marketing practices, right? xD
I have never had a problem getting a Xiaomi phone right after it was released. Their official store has stock right now that can be purchased. They don’t have secret lists and invites to buy their phone, anyone can log on and buy it that wants it. They don’t create artificial supply problems to drive up the price on the reseller market. They don’t try to play themselves off as a poor startup with limited capital (even though OPO is owned by OPPO/BBK).
orly? So please show me how to log on the english Mi website and buy a Mi4 with LTE to somewhere in Europe 🙂
Upon checkout choose the European warehouse. Since they don’t have an international version the LTE won’t work in Europe. But that is something you already know, you’re just trying to be a troll. Once the international version is released you will be able to log onto the same website and buy and have it shipped from the same warehouse.
I’m planning on buying an Mi3, would you recommend MIUI v6 (is it pretty stable) or sticking with MIUI v5 ?
I haven’t really spent much time with v6 yet, only had the phone for a few days, but so far it seems fairly stable.
