The Philips i966 is an expensive flagship beast!

Philips i966

With yesterday’s launch of the Philips i966 we were excited at the possibility of another amazing flagship at a lower price, but we were wrong.

The Philips i966 has the makings of a wonderful phone and one that could turn around Philips as a smatphone maker and place them among the likes of OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo, however the pricing is all wrong.

At 3999 Yuan, the Philips i966 is double the price of the IUNI U3, yet has no real benefit of the U3 in terms of specifications. They both back the same 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 801 processor and 2K display as one another.

Philips seem to have fallen in the same trap as Lenovo for it’s flagship, both brands are well known, but neither are really big in the smartphone market and are going to struggle to sell a phone at $653.

Does Philips really manufacture smart mobiles ? Seems like a brown box a la Indian manufacturer Micromax…made in China..packed by Philips.

I agree. If Philips was priced between 300-400, even 450$ with shipping cost and taxes like meizu mx4, i would definitely go for it!

Yep, too expensive… IUNI U3 has similar specs for much less monies!
