Nope that isn’t a spelling mistake, Chinese phone maker Wico (not to be confused with Wiko) are taking on Ecoo with an entry level octacore phone of their very own.
There are a few details about the Wico which make it quite an exciting little phone. First of all we have never heard of an octacore smartphone posting less than $100 never find the claimed $89 price Wico are going after.
Then there is the size, for a phone of this price, and with a 5-inch display a 6.5mm body with stainless steel frame are features we just don’t come to expect
Now some of you will be taking the price and the body size in to account and guesstimating that the battery would be a pathetic little cell, and we would too normal, but a leaked photo claims to show a 2800mAh battery!
As for the rest well it will get 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory and Android 4.4 Kitkat. Lets hope they manage to live up to expectations with this phone and we don’t fall foul of another knock off device.

that’s the smartest thing they could do to keep the phone slim and give the most possible mah, otherwhise they would have eneded with a crappy 1750mah battery!
Yep thats the only way it could be sold for $89 hah
540×960 (qHD) I guess or maybe an OGS 854×480 (FWVGA) display
I would rather have a quad-core with 2GB RAM
price it $150, make it 720p display IPS-OGS and add another gig of RAM.
Seriously, 1GB today is insufficient.
Not sure that 1gb is such a drawback really that people make out. I have a doogee dagger octacore with 1gb and a larger Toshiba excite pro which is tegra 4 with 2gb. The doogee is as smooth as silk, the Toshiba is also smooth until 30 minutes of heavy gaming then it overheats and slows itself down.
It’s all smooth as silk until you start facebook, bbm, swype, whatsapp, browser and multitask between them a lot. Then you played game every now and then.
1GB ram already reduced by GPU around 128mb (depend on the GPU), that leave you 872mb ram. If we take MIUI or CM11 as example, it needs around 500mb only for running the OS and all of the default service. Just check your free RAM after fresh install. Redmi 1S only have around 200-300mb of free RAM on fresh installation. BBM use around 30mb, swype use around 30mb, then you still have facebook, whatsapp, your launcher, and the RAM hungry google play service ….
it’s all good until your device out of ram, then start killing your background service and clearing their cache. leaving you with laggy experience because when you open your apps, they have to allocate resource again. So, yes 1GB of RAM for today smartphone is very limited.
My friend also have octacore phone with 1GB of RAM, and free memory on his device is only 70~mb
Exactly…1gb ram isn’t that enough if you like multitask. I had a Galaxy Note 1 with 1gb ram and now I have a Kingzone k1 with 2g ram. No comparision…2gb ram is a must have if you like to use some app at same time and don’t like crashes or lags.
