Later today Oppo will begin the official launch of the Oppo N3 and wafer thin Oppo R5, but before we get official lets see what TENAA have to tell us about the ultra-thin Oppo R5.
Anyone following Chinese tech will already be familiar with TENAA who are basically the Chinese version of the FCC. As you would expect any phone which is to be sold in China must first get TENAA approval, and as such their database is an invaluable source.
Take today for example where images and specs for the rumoured and much speculated Oppo R5 surfaced on the website.
The Oppo R5 is the thin smartphone brother of the Oppo N3, which are both headed for an official launch later today. The R5 has bee discussed quite a lot in the past few days as sources have claimed it will have a body of just 4mm, but this is not the case.
According the the TENAA documents the Gionee Elife S5.1 is still the worlds thinnest 4G LTE phone, as the R5 measures in at 149 x 74.6 x 5.5mm, that’s thicker than the 5.1mm Gionee. Fortunately most of the details which were rumoured yesterday have turned about to be accurate.
The Oppo R5 does have a 5.2-inch 1080 display, octacore Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM, 5 mega-pixel front camera, 13 mega-pixel rear and Android 4.4.4 (ColorOS 2.0). Tenaa does not mention the fast VOOC charging so we will have to wait for the official launch later today to see if that detail was correct.

Pricing also remains a mystery, but we do know that Chinese and Indonesian Oppo fans are at least some of the customers the R5 will be headed too.
