It’s rare to see a smaller Chinese phone maker use a processor not made by Mediatek, so Cubot’s annoucment that they have teamed up with Qualcomm on the Cubot Zorro is quite a surprise.
In the past Qualcomm have been quite strict with which smartphone makers they work with, and now as they more interest in the entry-level and mid-range markets are finally accepting lesser known Chinese phone makers to use their processors.
Cubot have managed to sign a deal with Qualcomm which starts with the company using the 64bit Snapdragon 410 processor inside the new Cubot Zorro smartphone. The fact that Cubot have bagged a Snapdragon processor is a large boost to the brand, and also its customers who will be able to enjoy 4G LTE across the Europe. In fact Cubot are actually asking for 100 beta testers to apply for a Cubot Zorro to ensure the phone is fully compatible with LTE network outside of China.
