In a Weibo post this morning Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun, has confirmed that his company will be releasing a youth version of the Xiaomi Mi4 at a new 1799 Yuan price point.
The Mi4 Youth has been launched as a direct rival to the popular Meizu MX4 which also sells at 1799 Yuan and has seen such hupe popularity in China that stock is in short supply.
Xiaomi have had to tweak the specs of their flagship Mi4 phone to reduce costs, with a reduction in RAM to 2GB, but so far that’s the only hardware change we are aware of. The youth model retains 32GB memory, LTE and a powerful Snapdragon 801 processor.
It is possible that this new low-cost Mi4 will be on sale through resellers ahead of Christmas.

32GB memory? Really? In that case I think this one is better than the classic Mi4 with 3GB/16GB. But I think you meant 2/16, didn`t you?
as long as it dual sim i wouldn’t mind if they downgraded the soc and resolution
there is still a difference from meizu MX4, that is the 4G LTE for Europe. The MI4 still do not have 4G for Europe so is not an option for 2014.
